If tsukihime was remade today, it would be 95% random technobabble about "rooted magic circuit matrix reality", 4% fanservice and 1% of very barebones story, maybe its better stay dead, or have some different guy write it, i think.

Tsukihime even if had slight traces of this retarded writing with how convoluted it was at times, and how nasu struggles to even properly explain how the vampires work; but Tsukihime wasn't too bogged down by it because it had simple enough and it was a surreal story. It's like nobody ever told him that he was writing stuff wrong and now his writing is completely plagued with this fake 2deep4u nonsense that makes it feel like Nasu doesn't have a clue what he's writing about.
When I said I couldn't vouch for the Fate route I meant that I couldn't remember it that well and how things were handled. I'm pretty sure most of Shirou's reasoning for throwing himself suicidally to protect Saber still comes from him being messed up in the head; but that's still not handled that well in the Fate route anyway.

I don't know what sorta experience you'd get from skipping it because each route builds off of each other. Nasu notoriously repeats information several times though but I think some of the more convoluted stuff (like how the servant system works) you won't be able to understand properly unless you've had the initial explanation in the Fate route. If you can accept those shortcomings you should be alright to skip it if you aren't patient enough for the Fate route

It's been so long since I read it man, but one example I remember was how the story couldn't give a simple explanation of how the vampires worked. It was some long over-explanation and at the time I thought it was because of the translation. Tsukihime didn't really suffer too much from it because it's concepts were still simple enough, but now we have time paradoxes and 4th dimensional planes
