After reading the Web Novels, the guy is totally a great MC, it's a shame that, sure, he's powerless other than having the one of the most powerful skill in the entire story, but he's also fairly realistic. He's literally some NEET who got dragged outside the confines of his shelter, and then had to experience a multitude of massively intense situations and emotions. The fact that's he's even at where he's at currently is admirable. His mind literally got broken, and he can't escape his situations because death will dig him right back up and plop him back into the exact situation he was at. He literally does not have the luxury of death, ironically. I love Subaru's character, despite him being a big fucking dork who fell in love with a girl at first sight because she was cute, but he's slowly starting to grow into his boots. I hope the best for him.

I think most people would be pretty frustrated in his situation with people like Roswaal constantly causing him to be in situations that essentially mean either he dies to learn critical information, or dies anyway and either way has to watch his friends die, or know they died.
