Saint saeiya is better written but is way more repetitive and much of it's appeal comes from understanding the mythological references

Dragon Ball up to Cell Saga >>>>> Saint Seiya. It's just better in everything.

If you are a child of course.

Saint Seiya has pretty much no choreography in its fights and recyles the sanctuary arc too much.
Dragon Ball was definitely better.

Nah, dragon ball always was randomish and brimming with charisma, saint seiya was clearly planned, had a more serious tone and a lot of subtext, it's comprehensible that a more exiting show like DB gives the impresion of being better than SS

>Dragon Ball or moeshit spic garbage
Hm. I wonder.

Dragon Ball, easily.

Cell Saga is literally the worst written saga in DBZ

>Saint Seiya
>Moe

Manga DB > SS
Anime SS >>>>>> DBZ
Trollei's Z is so bad it's laughable

OG Dragonball was better. DBZ and SS were both very repetitive. Still loved them both when I was a child.

Sorry, Saint Seiya has a place in my heart but it was horrendous. Aged ver badly.

Dragon Ball has better fights. Toriyama's ability to do well-choreographed scenes is undeniable.
Saint Seiya has better... everything else. Characters, story, lore, you name it. Saint Seiya has like, a dozen complex characters. It's really impressive how each Gold Saint had his own personal view of justice and honor, and how they carried themselves because of it. Dragon Ball only has Vegeta and Piccolo as interesting characters, while the rest are black-and-white asshole villains who want to become immortal, destroy planets, fight or all of the above.

which spic/jap drawn that?
looks cool

Is this a joke? The main 5 can basically be summed up as "I MUST PROTECT ATHENA" and being a stonefaced fuck. Everyone else barely gets enough screentime and focus to even remotely get a sliver of depth, let alone development (which there barely is any of, whatsoever outside of small exceptions like Kanon) and the art only looks good when Kurumada puts massive focus on the background because the the characters look like utter shite. The fake deaths in Saint Seiya would make Dragon Ball blush. It's entirely lacking in every aspect as a battle manga, it's a miracle the series ever became popular, likely through added filler scenes in the anime adaptation because I can't think of anything else about this that would make it look even slightly interesting.
>Piccolo and Vegeta
Goku, Krillin, Tien, Trunks, Roshi, fucking Yamcha even. The Dragon Ball cast is iconic for a reason and you'll never hear people gush about their love for Hyoga you would any of the Dragon Ball cast.

The characterization within the Cell Saga was disgustingly bad. I don't think there has ever been an arc as poorly written as the Cell Saga when it comes to set pieces. The only reason the arc worked was because every single major character involved made horrible decisions - Krillin, Vegeta, Goku, etc.

For all the hate the Buu Saga gets for dragging on too long and for switching focus so often, the scenarios where this occurs, such as Gohan getting smacked around by Buu because he got overconfident and let Buu absorb Gotenks and Piccolo, are a lot more believable than the 30 different terrible, incomprehensible scenarios that needed to occur for Gohan to end up as the hero in the Cell Saga. Anyone claiming that the Cell Saga is well-written is someone that watched it, when they were in their early teens, and self-inserted into Gohan. There is no way that someone who likes any other character, could have enjoyed this arc.

Dragon Ball of course, no contest.

>and the art only looks good when Kurumada puts massive focus on the background because the the characters look like utter shite.

I agree completely with you. I do think Kurumada's art is awful but to his defense, I think that, besides backgrounds, when it comes to designing and drawing armor sets, he's pretty good. Shame the same can't be said for his anatomy and faces.

They have charisma and personality, something Saint Seiya characters do not.

I will give you this, the armours can look really damn cool.

>charisma = interesting

Is it not? It's almost singlehandedly responsible for the yaoi genre. Saint Seiya is moe as fuck.

Then dragon ball is a shonen for faggots because it almost singlehandedly is responsible of shonen for faggots. dragon ball is a shonen for faggots.

you forgot to post a crying basedjack with that post

Cell Saga is pretentious shit, or at least the fanboys for it are, people just praise it because of their irrational hatred for seeing Goku save the day.
Buu Saga at least doesn't take itself seriously, Cell Saga tried so hard to be bleak it forgot what made Dragon Ball enjoyable

I'm gonna say Saint Seiya, even though many of the fights were completely forgettable. The art was amazing, the characters had more depth to them and some scenes still send shivers down my spine just thinking about them. Dragon Ball just feels really shallow to me, I barely have any attachment to it despite the fact that it was part of my childhood.

>ss has yaoi doujins so it's yaoi
>db inspired hundreds of shitty shonens like naruto but it doesn't matter

>Is this a joke? The main 5 can basically be summed up as "I MUST PROTECT ATHENA" and being a stonefaced fuck.
Seiya is what you described, but Shun's whole thing is being overly merciful while fighting to the death to protect Athena, and Ikki being a reckless, unreliable savage. Hyoga deals with his own selfishness in the quest for power, which is not that interesting, but it's more than most Dragon Ball characters.
>let alone development (which there barely is any of, whatsoever outside of small exceptions like Kanon)
Are you retarded? Basically everybody involved in Hades arc Sanctuary chapter got development. We see Shaka reach enlightenment mid-battle.
>the art only looks good when Kurumada puts massive focus on the background because the the characters look like utter shite
Fair enough, when it comes to the manga, DB is way better than SS.

manga art*

>NOOOOOOOO ALL CHARACTERS HAVE TO YELL THEIR GIMMICK AT ME SO I CAN KNOW THAT THEY HAVE A PERSONALITY, IF THE CHARACTERS DON'T TELL ME WHAT THEY LEARNT I WONT UNDERSTAND, THAT'S BAD WRITING

Spics absolutely love Dragon Ball, even more than Saint Seiya.

>Basically everybody involved in Hades arc Sanctuary chapter got development. We see Shaka reach enlightenment mid-battle.
Clearly I have failed to see it. Because Hyoga, Ikki and the like do not feel like they have even remotely changed after that. I do quite like the Hades arc though as it has a ton of interesting set pieces, it's adventurous and I like that.

This is actually what Saint Seiya characters do though.

DB has good fighting choreography.
