I KNEEL
if you watch it in broadcast order its a mystery
if you watch it in chronological order its a romance
There's zero mystery in broadcast order. I have no idea why people say that.
you go from the two setup episodes of melancholoy before anything happens to suddenly playing baseball, and then with no warning in the middle of the episode they suddenly talk about how the world might end if this game goes badly and break out magic powers with no explination on what the fuck anything is. then everyone gets burgers. in chronological order where you have all the context its just a wacky SOL episode, but in broadcast it has a much different tone (which is why the middle part of the episode is directed/shaded in a more intense manner)
that's just one example.
Overrated
Primarily SoL with a side of supernatural action.
moeshit
Coming-of-age story with scifi, mystery, and slice-of-life elements.
A romcom.
>self-insert
The precursor to Chuunibyou, where you witness the delusions of a group of japanese high schoolers who seriously believe they're a bunch of supernatural entities trying to save the world.
Yeah this + a bit of romance, but coming-of-age is the most prevalent.
SoLshit
BA to the SED
But done right, chuunibyou is just about escaping from pain, Haruhi's take on fiction goes further than that as a way to conquer individuality and freedom.
religious time travel + yuki eating sandwich
It was pretty much a harem, reminder that you cannot say haremshit because the best anime of all time it's a harem.
Time travel
No it's not, at best a love triangle in "disappearance" but even then Yuki was just a plot device.
