Probably left that sealed fire somewhere, but I assume he now walks with ready seals to defend faster if he sees Amaterasu used against him.

You can map out the powercreep of the Sharingan pretty easily.
Amaterasu sort of makes sense since fire was always the Uchihas specialty.

Then during the timeskip, Kishi decided it'd be a cool idea to have Kakashi and Obito have matching teleporation powers since they each have one eye. It's actually a neat idea, but then he made it yet another sharingan power. So now we have Kamui and Amaterasu which are completely unrelated powers.

After that it just devolves into every mangekyo sharingan being a lootbox of asspulls.

Amaterasu has only been hyped in theory only. It's probably the biggest jobber of jutsu's there is.

Because it would be boring to see ninja die in one panel to Amaterasu. So it's ever been used against enemies that can hard counter it. But 99% of ninja introduced can't.
