Why is this character still so extremely relevant? Beerus has been reduced to a simple comic relief, same with Frieza, Hit and Goku Black are literally i am forgotten, Moro has already started to fall into obscurity and people just want his arc to end but Jiren... he is everlasting, not a single DBS thread can exist without a sizable portion of replies being JIREN JIREN JIREN

Why is Jiren so bland and yet so mesmerizing and memorable as a character?

Jiren is relevant because his character is believable, i.e. he's a coward running from his own inherent weakness and powerlessness by pursuing strength and control over others. It's a classic archetype. Him looking like a grey (i.e. generic alien) is deliberate, his squad doing gay poses and catchphrases is deliberate, they're all symptoms of the underlying problem; the need for control over one's life and the pursuit of power to that end. Jiren appears contemplative at first glace, as he makes a show of meditating openly, and yet only really thinks and speaks about himself. Every one of you here can relate to this kind of misguided, hypocritical person who has lost perspective on his own life. Despite being vastly more powerful then others, his own hubris gets his own team deleted. It's classic tradegy inserted into a mongolian slide show.
Jiren is an excellent example.of what you should avoid becoming, both as a martial artist, and as a man.
