Is this "The Wire" of anime? Meaning the anime that everyone unanimously agrees is far above all other shows both in terms of its uniqueness and intellectual depth; no other show has ever attempted to recreate it.
>Mary Sue protags, everyone else is one-dimensional stock. >Pathetic misuse of the space setting, makes Star Wars look like an ultra-hard sci-fi in comparison. >Pants on the head retarded battles. >Middle-brow fake history suitable to teach entry-level politics to high schoolers and illiterate plebs, banal truisms for anyone with real education. >No plot. >Dated as fuck production values, evidently voice-acting wasn't invented in the 80s yet, the animation is also shit.

>209396636 Nice bait.
Cameron Moore
>The Wire I don't know what is this but I doubt is Zig Forums related.
Anime has nothing to offer, that is better than LOGH.
Ryan Miller
No. LoGH is okay, and unique in terms of being a long form space opera, but it depth is unremarkable and its writing is pretty flawed, and the sound and animation are merely serviceable.
Cameron Lee
True on every point, but at least it gave us funny reaction pictures.
It's a great show but the way it tackles its themes is quite shallow and pretentious. Although this user is clearly baiting, he is right that its approach to history and politics is entry-level high school stuff, while the show tries to portray itself as some grand dissertation on the topic and keeps talking about history non-stop.
Anthony Young
>hipster Yeah maybe a decade ago but everyone and their mother has heard of logh by now
Leo Sanchez
This. It's hot garbage
Brody Morris
The Sopranos is better.
Mason Scott
i stopped watching the wire when two black men started kissing each other
Landon Stewart
HOLY BASED
Asher Miller
>makes Star Wars look like an ultra-hard sci-fi in comparison Star Wars misuses the space setting just as much if not more. LoGH at least pretends that fleets are doing some sort of maneuvering.
And yet, despite all that, it's still the greatest anime of all time. That's just how pathetic the medium of anime is.
Luke Gomez
okay newfriend, reddit is this way
Anthony Powell
While I agree with some if not all of your points, I still really enjoyed it.
Chase Smith
LOGH unironically does the social commentary thing better than The Wire even though the latter is explicitly one while it's only a secondary part in the former.
Evan Butler
>The Wire >far above all other shows both in terms of its uniqueness and intellectual depth;
Now this is bait
Mason Kelly
you´re kind of right i cant deny it. it´s one of animes strength which is not often utilised.
Telling a giant story with lots of different places over a long time.
>intellectual depth Lmao LOGH is pants on head retarded sometimes. Teenagers praising it like it's perfect are embarrassing.
Lucas Kelly
No. LOGH does do a good job at presenting a fictional history, but it sticks to its themes to its own detriment. Tons of characters that exist only to be fodderized for the sake of the scale of the show. Introduces not very compelling antagonists like the Earth Cult for the sake of the scale of the show. Sacrificing the possible intricacies of the politics/philosophy/idealogy involved for the scale of the show. LOGH would be much better if it was willing to be more tightly focused and card less about being le epic historical space epic, and instead about actually being an enjoyable show.
Brody Gutierrez
well that defeats the whole point. thete's millions of enjoyable shows. you already recognize that bring an epic space opera epic is was the whole thing is build around. if you're just going to scale it down to give it more mass market appeal there's no point making it in the first place. thats like saying Captain Oates would have had a more enjoyable expedition if just he went hiking through Alaska and didn't bother with Antarctica.
