Kaguya-sama

Serious question: what happened? The manga used to be really good, but now it's just a shallow, soulless, drama driven, romcom.

Disclaimer: this isn't meant as a bait, I seriously want to know what you think.

subplots getting more focus over the main plot

>what happened?
Kaguya confessed 40 chapters ago. Aka wasn't able to make anything interesting after the main couple got together.

Ishigami happened.

Miko ruined the manga.

Now you understand why most romance manga end after the confession. Everyting after they got together tends to be terrible. Just look at Horimiya.

Aka wanted to write edgy drama (ib2) and once he got the chance from Kaguya becoming big he started caring less about the series and focused on his new edgy drama, Oshi no Ko (ib2).

I think the current problem is that Aka is taking so many breaks that this Ishigami arc feels like it is taking forever

It became the wan piss of romcoms.

Romcoms fall out as soon as the main couple gets together
Nothing new.

OP read oshi no ko, its really good. I Haven't really read kaguya since the actual confession but i think its because aka is tired of kaguya and just trying to stretch it by adding love triangle drama (based on comments that the manga turned into some generic love triangle bull sh*t with ishigami as the litteral me character)

Love changed characters, tone and aka

It feels like this. There are a couple of ways a romance manga can go on after the confession but Aka chose to do shitty drama around secondary characters.

They gonna break up.

Is it? Dropped it a couple of chapters in because it looked like an edge murder mystery wrapped up in idol fanaticism. Also the sister came off as a bitch.

OP here. Is it really good? Isn't it just edgy and pretentious?

The moment I found out Ishigami was actually his self insert my interest in the manga dipped considerably. Even his initial redemption arc feels tarnished at this point. He should've just stayed a dork after that instead of being literally-me-Sakuta-tier drivel the whole manga has devolved into.

Its really good, its not edgy at all. Its actually funny sometimes and heartwarming at times.
The first 10 chapter prologue really gets u to really support the MC.

ishigami =/= ourguy

Oshi no Ko happened obviously.

The Ishigami and Hayasaka arc are completely dog shit.

Maybe Kaguya was never good and we only liked it because we are biased.

Aka changing Tsubame from a faceless background character to love interest for Ishigami happened.

Ishigami romance arc is better than Hayasaka and Iceguya arc. Many romcom isn't interesting anymore when the main couple is finish. However, for me it's still good if Aka can build Ishigami romance more detail.

In this arc, Aka doesn't focus at Ishi and inserts some fillers. So, he lost his momentum to build the romance vibe.

The current arc is the "Ishigami romance" arc

>Ishigami romance arc
better than Hayasaka and Iceguya arc
Fuck no.

Basically this. Price of progress.
Almost every fucking romcom turns to shit once the main couple get together.
Iceguya arc was forced, Hayasaka arc was fucking awful, the separation drama feels completely unecessary and Ishigami's romance arc is stretched out to a retarded degree.

Kaguya manga peaked at Iceguya. It's been all downhill since. Hayasaka's arc had some flaws but it's still better than the harem teasing, shipping war, and shallow development that Ishigami's arc suffers from.

>Kaguya manga peaked at Iceguya.

>romance
what romance?

all roads leads to IB. just wait

Series is at its best when it's mostly lighthearted but punctuated with emotional moments, without dwelling on the darker parts. It's just been a bit convoluted and up its own ass lately, mostly Hayasaka arc and Tsubame keikaku, really feels out of place. Ishigami love triangle is good for the most part but it spiraled out of control, not horrendous, still salvageable, but a bit of a chore to read. Side note: Iceguya was great, it just sucked for us reading it week to week because it felt like blueballing, but in the end it was less than ten chapters and was important developmentwise.
