Naruto wasn't allowed at all on Zig Forums until about 2010 or 2011 when the manga was allowed, but the anime wasn't allowed. New chapter threads of the manga were permitted. Before that posting anything Naruto would lead to thread deletion and ban. Not sure when the anime became allowed to discuss, but probably a few years later.

There are a few times where Yusuke gets a powerup out of nowhere but the same's true for Naruto. The bit where Yusuke has to get the spirit wave orb implanted is no joke one of the best powerups I've seen in anime.

I'm not saying it was copied (though some earlier arcs were a little bit but) it's more like the style of storytelling, that puts both of these way above every other shonen, it's hard to articulate exactly what it is but I'll try. I was recently watching Yu Yu hakusho for the first time and even though it has a lot of good things it doesn't have the elements that make HxH and Naruto so great, it's good but it's clearly inspired by DBZ a little but too much and that's not a good thing. The protagonist just seems to become stronger without any explanation aside from "spiritual power bullshit", gives you the impression that the world revolves around them, this happens with Bleach, DBZ, and even One Piece (although this one is way better in this regard but it has plenty of other issues I don't want to discuss) and basically most other shonen. In Naruto you can see it in the first arc, the difference between let's say Naruto and Kakashi or Zabuza Is so big is not even close, and this constantly happens over and over, it's constantly reminding us that Naruto is just an idotoc kid with guts, but just that or being the protagonist won't be enough to win against real ninjas (even though in part 2 all of this goes to shit a little bit). Another thing, kids actually act like kids, Naruto is an idiot, Sakura is a horny teenager, Sasuke is edgy af and keeps getting BTFO every time he faces real ninjas, unlike other shonens or anime in general where they forget kids should act like fucking kids. this happens in the entirety of part one and a huge chunk of part 2. And Don't even get me started with the fights, Naruto and HxH are so much better than everything else it's actually ridiculous, I fall asleep watching any other shonen fight (I hit you, then you hit me until one is defeated) there's no nuance to it at all...

I was watching the Zabuza arc the other day and just the first fight between Zabuza and Kakashi is better than everything I've seen in Yu Yu Hakusho 40 chapters in, there's a huge tactical element and we have 2 incredibly powerful and charismatic characters displaying a shitton of cool techniques, no bullshit, Zabuza wins but team 7 is able to free Kakashi with strategy, then Zabuza loses his chance and Kakashi gets a second chance to shine. It's not actually about who is the strongest but who outsmarts the other and who hits first, you know, like a real fucking fight would be (real fight the first one who lands a good punch wins, regardless of who was actually the strongest) hunter Hunter x Hunter is also like this and it never declines so that's why it's the best.

Not really. Haikyuu has nice animation, but that's about it. The Diamond no Ace manga is good, but the anime is a horrendous slideshow.
