To be fair, until the new Broly film, Saiyans were depicted in such a way, that their genocide was godsend for the rest of Universe 7. Genocide in this case was necessary for the benefit of everyone else, and the none "positive" thing Frieza did until helping out in the Tournament of Power. Even Goku was originally a typically hyper violent Saiyan until he fell from a cliff and suffered a brain injury.
