On October 9th, a Berserk announcement subtitled "The New Beginning" will occur. Many fans have theorized that this subtitle could indicate a new anime adaptation, which would be the first anime Berserk has gotten since the disastrous 2016 and 2017 adaptations. Today, people on twitter are beginning to put a few pieces together that may point to a Studio Orange adaptation of one of the most beloved manga of all time. Here is what they've gathered: >June 2nd, 2020 - an interview with Studio Orange president Eiji Inomoto reveals that the company is working on "a CG remake of an unnamed title that 'might be familiar.'" (animenewsnetwork.com/daily-briefs/2020-06-02/orange-ceo-eiji-inomoto-studio-works-on-cg-remake-of-familiar-title/.160166) >September 22nd, 2020 - News of the upcoming Berserk announcement is released. As of the time I am writing this, we should expect to see this announcement next week >September 30th, 2020 (a few hours ago) - Studio Orange Producer Yoshihiro Watanabe (worked and is still working on the Beastars adaptation) tweets "Exciting things to come in a week..!" Fans begin to suspect that this is related to Berserk's announcement, which is also happening next week (twitter.com/crazynabe/status/1311325753275944960?s=20)
Studio Orange's past work includes the adaptations Beastars, Houseki no Kuni, and Black Bullet, among many others. They are primarily a 3DCG studio. Do you think any of his points towards an Orange Berserk anime? What would such a production even be like? Could it possibly be worse than what we got in 2016 / 2017?
>They are primarily a 3DCG studio. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.
Enough with the japanese cgi. It has never looked good. The only reason Houseki no Kuni or Beastars worked a bit, was because the entire cast is not humans. Berserk deserves a proper animated adaptation. We have shows out right now, like Attack on Titan, Vinland saga and so on. Sure Miura's art can't be 100% captured on screen, but that does not mean that we have to give up and give it a shitty series. God I hope this announcement is nothing at all.
Ayden Ramirez
I hope it's a complete reboot so we get to see webm related but for Farnese and Guts.
>Could it possibly be worse than what we got in 2016 / 2017? Are you fucking serious? Orange is easily the best CG studio by miles. A Berserk adaptation by them would be great if they go full stylized.
Hunter Jones
>Actually thinks the Berserk "announcement" next week is anything close to a big project They're just announcing a website store.
Dominic Russell
how does all the blood, gore and savageness of Berserk bode well with 3D? Guts moves around like a beast and you want to animate it using 3D? Doesn't Miura care about how his manga is adapted? i know that some mangaka stright up refuse to give rights for anime adaptations because they don't trust the medium, and yet Miura simply doesn't care about his
Sebastian Lopez
Orange actually does a good job on the CG, as long as they don't go too nuts with the camera flying all over the place in action scenes. So sure whatever I guess.
If it’s Studio Orange, it might potentially be good. I’m cautiously optimistic about this.
Easton Sanders
To think that if japan actually cared, we could get Berserk animated in this artstyle: youtube.com/watch?v=7U7BDn-gU18 But no, they just love shitting on Berserk so much, that the best adaptation so far, has been the semi-slide show from 20+ years ago.
Alexander Long
>Best CG studio Honestly, that's really, really not saying much. It will look like shit and won't do Berserk any justice.
Jayden Ortiz
i don't know how to explain what i want to say, but to me Houseki no Kuni and beastars felt incredibly "rigid" and "static"?
Evan Richardson
Berserk needs a rooted, down-to-earth grittyness that I don't think CG can really capture. It's just so fucking weird how they decide to constantly do CG on a manga that is known for it's GOOD DRAWINGS.
Gavin Moore
CG is much cheaper than actually having someone sit down and draw.
Easton Thomas
wtf this opening may be well made but the song is so out of place for Vinland Saga
anyway even the opening for the 2016 adaptation was well made, but the rest was still trash. and VS animation is still not fluid enough for Berserk
Christian Rodriguez
Berserk 97 was rigid and cut out content but was ultimately decent because of strong composition and music. Orange can easily surpass it if they get their talented staff to work on it.
Benjamin Diaz
>wanting another adaptation Unless it's backed by oil money it's going to be shit.
Jose Wilson
Thats good, right?
Jose Adams
>They're just announcing a website store. Really? You got a source for that? Oh please god let this be true.
Bentley Bell
I'll give you that direction is actually the key for good Berserk adaptation, but you need good visuals as well. Third Berserk works because it both looked good and had great direction.
You do realize it's impossible to get a good 2D adaptation of Berserk, right? Especially in today's industry.
Noah Price
Devilman Crybaby, Mob Psycho, OPM season 1 all had great animation
Dominic Gray
WiT could do it.
Anthony Murphy
It is entirely possible. Just make it like the Berserk movie III quality without cutting stuff and there you would have it.
David James
That madhouse died multiple times.
Elijah Hughes
Orange CG might be good but it's not the right style for Berserk in the fucking slightest. Berserk was incredible for its gritty expressions and intricate designs that CG just doesn't match well.
Jace Bailey
Wit did a great job with Vinland Saga.
Blake Davis
>movie quality >in a TV series
Jacob Rodriguez
I don't want a third shitty cgi adaptation. I don't give a shit about Orange being japans best cgi studio. It's like saying that I am the greatest manga artist in my country, because there are no other manga artists in my country, thus pic related is Vagabond or Berserk levels of quality. In other words, all japanese cgi is bad. The worst of it looks like dogshit, the best of it looks like catshit.
Mob Psycho was decent but only because of its messy style, OPM had good animation but was soulless and very short, and everyone would bitch if a new Berserk looked like Crybaby.
WiT are good at detail and technical animation but pretty bland with everything else. At that point you might as well not adapt it at all.
Robert Bailey
Arifumi Imai would be able to carry the entire project, FUND IT
Dominic Reyes
>Production I.G
Levi Murphy
you guys are all mentioning studios that are used to animate and draw highschool kids with soft faces. it wont work
Brandon Diaz
>To Pure for that BunnySlut. >To Pure for this World.
Elijah Sullivan
if i could create a super team i would also want the madhouse that made Vampire Hunter. i have to go rewatch it
Michael Barnes
Young Animal is fucking poor, barely 50k reader, what the fuck do you want from them? japs hate Berserk
Juan Thompson
CAN WE JUST GET WYALD'S TOUNGE DICK ANIMATED ITS BEEN LIKE OVER 30 YEARS.
Julian Gonzalez
The worst thing about this is that if they start doing another adaptation now, it will push the potentially good adaptation back another 10-20 years. Though I would say that the series has the best shot at getting properly animated, when it is either ending or over.
Grayson Wright
plus Berserk is just not marketable too much nudity sex and gore. no merch to sell and it's too niche in general
Xavier Mitchell
>The shit animation and bad CGI coming again. My Body is ready faggot.
