Whats the weirdest manga you read?

By far the strangest manga I've attempted to read was Maris Stella of Doomsday.

Basically its post-apocalyptic animal ear strike witch angels fighting sea-life in space and hope they get fucked by space angel dolphins so that they can give birth to the crystallized metallic bismuth which is used by the church to expand the lands of humanity????

It features fish rape and brutal named character deaths immediately after introducing them. A very /ak/ manga.

It was too disturbing for me and I had to drop it.

"Nejishiki" is about a dude who cut himself and then goes around asking for help, whenever he finds somebody, is always somebody weird, the manga is not very interesting but is considered a land mark when it comes to alternative manga, the author (Tsuge Yoshiharu) did other better work "The Man With No Talent" after that (mid 80s) he quit the industry to focus on his family.

I wish this lasted longer

i've read too much weird shit to be able to chose the most bizarre of them all

Probably Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro (same guy who did Assassination Classroom), definitely the weirdest one I'd recommend to someone anyway. It's just continously genuinely fucking surreal.

A lot of that is the art, pic related is pretty standard. It looks bad but is interesting. And weird scenes are really common.

But it's also just fucking weird all over. The main character Neuro is a demon who feeds on emotions, and since his favourites are those dark ones people channel when trying to hide something terrible, he comes to the human world to become a detective (since demons in hell have no reason to hide shit). On the way he picks up a human schoolgirl meatshield to torture in his off-time and to pretend is actually the detective either to avoid suspicion or just because he thinks it's fucking funny.

There's a bunch of very grisly murders you'd think people wouldn't let kids read, the main character is an unfeeling sociopath who is only tangentially interested in saving human lives because dead humans don't commit further delicious crimes, and when Neuro doesn't have anything to do he just outright performs asexual BDSM on his schoolgirl. There's a bunch of really fucked up scenes too. One that comes to mind is a man who is forced to cut his own stomach open and then grind his body along the ground so that he spells out a message in his blood and organs.

Meanwhile some of the background characters include a shapeshifter serial killer who's shapeshifting causes him amnesia - so he's constantly unsure of who, where or what the hell he is, a singer who's fame came from songs about sorrow and so murders her best friends for inspiration, a guy who's got the wires crossed in his head so that he sees chairs as people and women as furniture etc. The detective agency's secretary is a long dead girl's haunted ponytai, it's that sort of story.

Hell, it even outright subverts the entire point of shonen action manga. Neuro starts the story as strong as he can be - basically invincible - then grows weaker and weaker from being in the human world until a normal bullet could kill him by the finale and he has to fuck off home.

It's full of weird problems and it's sometimes just ugly, but I do love it, not least because something read by kids should not have a villain who made someone into a chair, or forced someone to kill all their family to make furniture out of their faces.

as far as weird shit goes this stuff is quite mild, however i highly recommend it too
i don't remember much because i've read it many years ago but i recall enjoying it immensely
