you act like (Greater) Tokyo's population isn't 25%~ of Japan's, and that it's the only urbanized hellhole there. The countryside is quickly thinning in Japan. Even the stereotypically rustic Kansai is urbanized as fuck.

The places that aren't in the top 5 most populated or meteopolitan in japan are pretty normal, though I'll admit that little younger population they have are moving to larger cities for uni or a job so that sucks. In any case I wanted to say that the stuff you mentioned isn't (or won't be) exclusive to Japan or east asia. With bigger urbanization you're bound to end up with a cyberpunk-esque hellscape no matter where. The only places that don't have that problem are the middle eastern shitholes that are shitholes for completely other and valid reasons. Nonetheless when the population drops in Japan things will become somewhat normal unless they start importing shitton of swarthoids (though Japan isn't meant to have a population of over 100 milion either way)
