I never realized before what a top-tier setting Higurashi has for the ultimate spooks
>rural mountain area >remote from anything >comfy 80s >town consists of very small population >MC is a new transfer so doesnt know any lore about the place >surrounded by mentally ill women
>Not to mention the added bonus of being based on a real location. Imagine reading the vn at night while visiting the setting it's based off. Murder story included?
Chase Morales
Nah, just the location. But even so, reading a horror story taking place in the area you're currently residing in has gotta be extra spooky.
07 usually takes the most common settings for horror/mystery.

I swear I saw this thread exactly like this before.
This user posts the exact same message talking about being a real place.
Im literally having a huge dejavu relating to Higurashi.
Now call that spooky.
Juan Reed
I came a little when I heard it.
Julian Smith
I really liked the sound mixing, everything sounded so clearly and the sound effects were a joy to listen to.
Jace Miller
>I never realized before that an outsider in a small remote rural village full of crazies was a good setting for horror Have you literally never consumed a single piece of horror media before?
Jonathan Cox
I accidentally forgot about that song and when I heard it I totally thought HERE WE GO BOYS and when Rika showed up with a AW SHIT HERE WE GO AGAIN.
Jeremiah White
Everyone knows this is all just a big simulation, user.
Eli Ramirez
Its Wickerman meets Groundhog Day.

Spoilers!!!!!

Umineko is classic mystery. If you read any mystery novels outside of your little tranny visual novel, you'd know that. Dumbass.
Easton Parker
They are way more horrors than mystery that happen in a spooky mansion cut off by storm.
Camden Adams
Or cabin in the woods for another example lmao
Camden Harris
>rural mountain area >remote from anything >comfy 80s >mansion with just a couple of servants and owner >protags are from out of town so don't know any lore >surrounded by mentally ill women/men/drag queens Rocky Horror Picture Show

It was actually wonderful directing. The classic chants kick in at the dramatic part. Which, if I remember right is reversed japanese for "You can't run away". You have the lyrics questioning the person behind and front being a comment on both Rena and Keiichi. You have the iconic Rena with her cleaver. You have a love letter to the OG series by playing the classic opening. All the while, those who already know what is going on have already gotten a treat of characterization and tease for the future. New viewers got a glimpse of what made Rena an icon while receiving a calm before the storm where the first raindrops start falling.
Say what you want about the animation, the end scene couldn't have been done better.
Luis Perez
To be fair post (big war) steam-cyberpunk with moral discarding science is pretty common.
I mean. Ain't the "spooky mansion cut off by storm" almost a clichee as much as the famous first novel lines of "It was a dark and stormy night". Agatha Christie, right?
Ayden Nguyen
To the user in the last thread wanting a source on the mini comic of Mion and Shion breaking Keita's dick, crushing his balls, and then cutting them off I finally found it. Can't find it on pixiv anymore but both pages are in the top 10 images on this jp blog blog.livedoor.jp/mitemire-hage/archives/1041627058.html
Lincoln Phillips
it's been a long time, but i'm pretty sure "ten little niggers" is mentioned in umineko
Daniel Parker
I wonder if we'll get a scene like this at some point in the new anime/manga.
>surrounded by mentally ill women casual fags need to go and stay gone.
Jonathan Wood
Actually the volume of the music playing probably should have been a bit better fit on the scene. Also like to point out how good the dramatic emotional bursts, in the episode contexts, were made. In this case Mion and Rena reactions being just one frame almost creating the same perspective like we should from Keiichi giving us the "Excuse me? What did you just said?" feeling.
Nicholas Baker
>When they all see Keita's dick in the actual series Rika doesn't blush Is she a slut? Is there a timeline where she just fucked around doing that kind of thing?
Aiden Martinez
she's been time looping for over 100 years, she's pretty old and jaded
Ayden Morgan
The old higurashi anime has literally no notable scenes. It's just like someone reading you the story, well, their summary of the story, so it works for that purpose but there weren't any animation bumps for important scenes like we got here with Rena showing up. So even if it's the same story now it's more than worth it since this anime will hit the right notes of sadness and hype with visuals alone.
Onikakushi in the old anime was well directed enough though, I can remember finding the girls spooky. But I don't remember anything that stood out from later chapters.
Austin Martin
>Is there a timeline where she just fucked around Implying it only happened once.
Okay but she's still a loli who should be interested or at least surprised at dicks unless in one of those loops she learned alot about them
Justin Campbell
isn't she pushing 1000? if it were only 100 years I don't she'd be so close to breaking, plus her earliest restarts when farther back into her earlier life and took up years. no, she constantly laments her body never got to develop enough to romance.
Tyler Stewart
So she IS a closet slut
Luis Thomas
