>daughter of a fellow white whistle is coming to town >knows she doesn’t yet understand the emotional toll required to get to next layer >raises own daughter with so much love and affection that she would do anything for the people she cares about >attacks his guests to help prepare them for the physical and emotional difficulties they will face as they continue their journey >puts daughter into a state where her desire to help her friends and pure strength of will would manifest itself as a life reverberating stone >allows her spirit live on and accompany the only friends she had ever known, fulfills her wishes to both aid her loved ones and leave home, and absolves her friends of any guilt in the process
He could've always just said "The elevator to the next layer is activated by a white whistle. I'm not using mine, as I have no intention of going on my last dive yet. In order to make one, you'll have to sacrifice one of your party members. If you're not comfortable doing that, then you can either choose to stay here, or return to the surface. Making it to the fifth layer is still quite an achievement for two red whistles, and you have your whole life ahead of you to get more experienced."
>telling a 12 year old girl who just found out she was a stillborn living on borrowed time that the only way for her to move forward with a tool that activates the relics down there is to kill one of her friends Sounds like a pretty shit dad to me.
Aaron Brown
He doesn't have to tell them about that.
That's the price one must pay though, the Abyss is unforgiving and death is cheap here. Especially if her intention is to go onwards to a place where moving upwards is irreversible and you generally can never return to the surface ever again. This is why red whistles aren't given support down this far, it's not a choice a 12-year old girl should make.
Carson Clark
Whether he's based or not depends on how alive prushka actually is inside that whistle. Its implied her soul lives on to a degree in the next arc but we really don't know if she actually gets to take in the journey.
Nathan Wood
You're a dumbass.
Oliver Anderson
Boner Dude is just playing the multi-plan game. He got everything he wanted besides being able to keep a blessed body. And he can, and will, make another Prushka anyway.
>Riko and co will go deep into the 6th and he can watch as they do, since he's got spy shit in Flopper >He proved he can artificially make an orphan love him enough that they will give him the Blessing, so he got set 10 years behind at most >Still the master of Idofront >I'm pretty sure it's never fully confirmed that Zoaholic was actually destroyed
BongDad won and just because it helps the potato gang doesn't mean it stops the wholesale catridging of orphans
Matthew Ward
That’s why he didn’t give her a choice and did all the dirty work for her
Luke Ward
She dead boi. That's like saying grandpa is watching from his urn. Even if she's "part of the journey" she still would have had more fun if she was a person and not goop/an instrument
Julian Wright
Anyone else finding the current arc mediocre? I'm not really sure what the consensus is, but outside of the flashback, nothing has been that interesting to me, and I don't find the whole Faputa/Irumyuui aspect of the arc especially tragic or moving.
Jeremiah Stewart
It’s confirmed from the manga that she has at least some sort of low level consciousness and can communicate her emotions to Riko
Nolan Hughes
Yeah. It’s kinda soulless desu
Jaxson Baker
I really enjoyed the flashbacks or whatever, but ignoring that it has been really average. Pic related made up for it 10x, he's such a fucking loveable madman.
The backstory of the village and how it and Faputa came to be is pretty interesting, but I'm getting tired of the party being split up and stuck in the village, mostly just observing what's happening. Missing the previous volumes' wholesome adventures.
How did Bondrewd know that Riko was the daughter of a white whistle unless Nanachi vision was real? Did the flower field umbra observe her using Blaze Reap?
I'll reserve judgement until Faputa's shtick with Reg is fully revealed. Then I'll give the whole arc a read straight through. It's difficult to judge the feel of it when chapters are so far apart. The pacing feels slow as fuck now, but on a continuous read it might end up being fine.
Jacob Mitchell
It got its highs and its lows, I’m not really that invested in the whole Faputa thing also I could care less if the village gets destroyed, heck is likely destroying that thing would do all its inhabitants a favor in the long run, but yeah is not bad but its not that great either. Asenshi subs are out in case someone care about that.
It’s going on for way too long with adding much substance to the story. There’s so much more the author has set up - I wanna learn more about Bondrewd’s activities in the sixth layer, the other white whistles and their histories with each other, “science” of the curse and Narehate, birthday sickness, the ancient civilization, fighting with violent delvers from other nations, Reg’s memories, Lyza’s letter, and more of the wildlife just to name what I can think of off the top of my head.
And for how many years with if chapters have they been hanging out in a town with a bunch of characters that were introduced out of nowhere?
Zachary Sanders
Through his history with Lyza or his spies on the 4th layer. Was Nanachi vision anime-only?
Liam Allen
Bunny vision is in both. I think there's even a panel that shows he's watching them on the 6th
Gavin Edwards
Nop, in fact, the “Nanachi vision” has been a strong point of debate for quite some time
Nanachivision is a critical part of Nanachi's plan to get Bondrewd torn apart by the scorpions, which served to strengthen Prushka's bond with her dad when seeing him "die" and "come back to life" from her love and prayer.
Gavin Allen
We're officially in the "manga takes too long to release so because we only go through a little bit of development once every 4 months we think the arc is slowly paced and bad" stage. Happens every manga that's not weekly. I just reread the arc and it's very good, the problem is we rarely get a chapter. The flashback is peak MiA.
Charles Cox
Shes not on borrowed time the moving meat died because it was a piece of meat with no blood or organs.
Luke Jenkins
At the bottom of the abyss is a door and the keys are white whistles the curse seeps out of its cracks
Carter Price
The story would be moving along a lot faster if he released a chapter with half as many pages every 6 weeks. I like how they are now but I wish he’d write at least 6 chapters a year
Jose Cook
Nice headcannon
Isaac Edwards
Man, I really need to watch more than just the first anime.
Lucas Anderson
I like Faputa a lot, and the village backstory was pretty good too. But I really dislike the villagers, I hope moth kills them all.
