yeah it came and went. the reason why masculine anime came to be was bc japan in the 80s had a high crime rate so people turned to media that had triumphant heroes that turned them away from the evil outside. now that japan's crime rate are fine, there's really no need for masculine shows to exist.
That's a weird reason for it disappearing. Westerners watch fantasy movies about wizards and goblins despite not living in the middle ages.
