28 years old and just finished this anime for the first time. What a wild ride of emotions it was. It certainly struck a little too close to home in parts.

mc should have died on suicide island

Worst part for me was Satous friend moving away, and the Eroge being a flop.

imo if they made the beginning less shit and tried to cut the mediocre humor, it would be a top tier anime.

>Satou fucking a hot girl in highschool
>the final implication being that the cure for a hikineet is throwing them out into the world to get a job
>ignoring the reality that a person who has been a hikineet for any duration of significant time is literally unemployable and that's even assuming that hikineet finished highschool/went to college at all
This series has some flaws.

Another thread? Do I smell Netflix?

its on netflix now?

My favourite anime of all time. I didn't really like the MMO and MLM parts, but now that I am older I realize they were there to show that any alternatives to working were mostly impractical.

>your problem is INSIDE YOU
Nah, I tried to get a proper job and attractive girlfriend. I got neither of those things and ended up depressed because of it. If I had both of those things I would be happy.

I agree

Go back to your shounen generals faggot

who is netflix?

that retard is literally me

It bothers me that's it's been more then 12 years that I watched this for he first time and still hits too close to home

So I watched this like a decade ago back when I was happy and new in college.
My life was obvious to real problems and I spent most of my time partying and trying out hallucinogens.
I thought that the show was about a crazy dude who was tripping and paranoid.
I feel like that now I am more cynical and older and can actually appreciate it, I would actually enjoy it.
Is the anime more of a statement on mental health and hikineet life or more of a statement against nihilism and existentialism?

*I was oblivious to real life problems
Sorry. Watching anime and phonefagging on my weekend

>Is the anime more of a statement on mental health and hikineet life or more of a statement against nihilism and existentialism?
It's both. The sense of hopelessness and despair against the world, wrapped up for Satou in his belief that everything is a conspiracy, is borne out of his mental health, and his mental health is borne out of his worldview. It's a vicious cycle that in the end he only breaks out of through sheer necessity. Newfags watch the show and think it's about getting a waifu to fix your problems, but it's like they never actually watched it. Satou is in a worse spot at the end than he was before he met Misaki. Ultimately he ends up having to save himself, and brings Misaki back from the brink. The final episode is the two of them basically signing a non-suicide pact. You can lean on others but you need to try and fix yourself first.

man, i have been unemployed for like 3 or 2 months already (you lose sense of time when ur hikki neet) i sleep through the day and I'm awake at night, my sleep schedule is super fucked up and i miss getting drunk so fucking much
20 y/o khv

Yeah, I think the last third ignored the consequences of being NEET for so long, but then again Satou was only 22/23.

I never caught that.
A while ago I heard someone mention that "people often look to other people to fix them. People get into relationships in hopes that their partner will help them. When two broken people look toward eachother to fix eachother, its no wonder it ends poorly. Instead, work towards being the best you can be. Love others and yourself. When u can do that, than find someone."
Or something along those lines.
And it makes sense

it gets worse then kinda better but then worse lol. But thats life??
29 fag here. I think I'm happy?? I guess life is better than when I was 24??
Idk. Priorities have shifted. The things that made me happy when I was 24 aren't the same. Its a different type of happiness?

It's cool if you're happy, but the world is much harsher on people who are still jobless after the age of 25.

I can't imagine. I mean, I have friends who make more with the covid unemployment package than I did for a while.
Luckily I got into teaching and IT.
I still have a job. But I want to change fields and I am afraid of not having a job

So i can't imagine what its like to be 25 and not have one.
Fuck man. Imagine being like my dad, 63, 2 years from retirement, and was laid off because "its cheaper to outsource"
I guess there is always labor jobs??
I know a common anime trope is "i need to earn money fast. I will do labor like waving flags at a construction site and make 2000 a month"
But idk if that's real in the states?

It's hard to imagine how it feels for sure, but it's not too hard to see how potential employers or society in general views people like that.

>I know a common anime trope is "i need to earn money fast. I will do labor like waving flags at a construction site and make 2000 a month"
Maybe it was a thing in the past but things aren't that easy these days, though I wish they were. Especially not in the UK where I am.

>OH MY DEPRESSION
>OH MY ISOLATION
>OH MY MENTAL HEALTH
>OH MY NEW FRIEND
>OH MY ANGER
>OH MY DESTINY

CRINGE

> Cringe
That's some weird self-awareness you have going on. If this was on any other website, it would look like a cry for help.

>cut the mediocre humor,
What? The humor is great. The part where he goes to take perverted photos of schoolgirls just to see how low he could go was hilarious.

what ever happened to the author, is he still a neet living off royalties?

Am I the only one who felt like the ending was really forced? Neither Satou nor Misaki actually solved any of their problems. All they did was enter a non-suicide pact and promise to be there for eachother, but that's no resolution, because their obvious mental issues are still there, unaddressed, unresolved. Also, I feel kinda bummed out considering that the ultimate bro, Yamazaki, literally became a riajuu and took over the family business and got married. Good for him, I suppose, but it feels disingenuous.

that's part of the point, the author had no solutions for his problems, that's just life, you just take it one day at a time wondering how much longer you can keep going

NHK is the greatest anime of all time

Attached: abr8w.jpg (1276x798, 68.56K)

So WttNHK is the Bojack Horseman of anime?

Fuck. That's depressing. Why are we cursed like this?

Not forced but realistic. Their issues are disorders of personality, which are typically permanent. Resolving them all with a a 'happily ever after' love type ending would have invalidated the whole story.
With mindsets like Satou, you're not going to change unless circumstances or strong enough emotions force you to. Even then your personality won't change, you just adapt it to a point where you can work to meet your needs, which us all living is.
Yamazaki is different in that his situation was more of a rebellion against the troubling idea of his life being on rails dictated by his family, preferring to take the risk of trying new ideas in an attempt to form his own identity. His ending is also realistic because of this, a good life was always waiting for him and would always be the default option to choose if his other options didn't work.

>every straight male would be happy with a decent job and an attractive loyal girlfriend/wife

Cringe
