On the surface Gunha is a likeable character who entertains with flashy powers, but he is not a compelling character. He doesn't experience any real struggles, and there's no real driving force for him other than "get stronger". He had no personal connection to the events that occurred in Daihaseisai and Astral Buddy, making his presence just for show. The phrase "style over substance" comes to mind. I would also put Thor in the same category of character who is cool on paper but doesn't really have any depth.

There are enough characters with depth. I don't think everyone needs so much depth really. Not everyone has some past tragedy or whatever. I think the contrast is probably good. Plus there isn't as much about Gunha as there is with the other level fives. Style over substance is definitely fitting for him though.
