Lost Universe is pretty bad. It's infamously bad, actually. It used to be a meme for how bad it was.
It's a Slayers clone set in space.

It's pretty uninspired, but the reason why it's so bad is because the studio suffered a major setback because they burnt down and lost everything, so they had to redo it all.
Lost Universe is full of QUALITY and shitty animation and questionable writing.
They even resorted to CGI for some parts because it was cheaper/easier/faster to animate. Sounds familiar?

Lost Universe actually invented QUALITY-posting.

One clarification, it's not a Slayers Clone, it's set in a parallel universe to Slayers with one of the other Pillar Shinzoku and Mazoku are the supreme powers. Where Shabruanigu and Ceifeed are in the Slayerverse, Night Dragon and Dark Star are in the Lost Universe uh.. universe.

But yeah, the show was a let down overall.
