Gendo was a tremendous chad who could get any bitch he wanted, it's Yui who was infuriated with him, not the other way around. It's evidenced by him scoring both Ritsuko and her mother just so they would fall in love with him and be emotionally invested in their work.
Fuyutsuki was a gigantic cuckold simp and a nice guy who watched the manipulative "bad frequentation" Gendo who got into bar fights now and then steal the studen that he loved from him. The scene where Gendo gives him the postcard from Yui was hilarious because of that.
Later on turns out Gendo was in love with her enough to warrant making the third impact happen so he could be reunited with her, but he already spent a good part of his life with her and they even conceived a child together. It's just genuine shared love and nothing on the pathetic level of Fuyutsuki's friendzone.
