I thought watching an anime about a familiar sport would be more fun, and even though I knew it was going to be more over the top, and not realistic at all from PV, I find it hard to suspend my disbelief.
BUT my biggest problem is pic related. I mainly do bouldering, and I met many people over time, but I never met such a tryhard who was not welcoming to beginners like Jun. In reality most people do think of the puzzle solving aspect of the sport as a game. Everyone is helpful, and actually super keen to get more people into the sport.
I guess the thread is for discussing the series, but if anyone reading ever wanted to try climbing, but is too anxious about it, I just want you to know it is unlikely you would meet someone like Jun. The nicest people I met were at bouldering gym.
I just never met anyone like that. It feels more like a forced sport anime trope.
So far I think the captain is the best, but that's only after first episode

Why does she even have any say in the club? She is just a first year.
Angel Walker
She's got my favourite design of the four so I hope we don't have to deal with tetchiness from her all the way through. Her change of heart at the end was a good sign

Hazing is for subhumans
Elijah Brooks
there were lots of little things like that. I feel like I want this anime to be good, just because it's my sport, but it has lots of little things I don't like about it.
It’s such a shit club that gabu and snek were the only ones in it last year. So the autist try hard has clout for joining and being so gungho idk
Oliver Lee
I just want her to do 180 on her attitude. Remember how much fun she had as a kid. I want her to get a short arc in which regaining fun in her climbing is going to make her a better climber. I shit you not, that's one of the advices a pro gave in one of the interviews I watched.
is it a voice actress pun? I did not watch the snek series.

In reality most people do think of the puzzle solving aspect of the sport as a game. Everyone is helpful, and actually super keen to get more people into the sport. The whole point of the anime will be Jun's transformation from being tryhard Jap into a pot-smoking American climber-girl. The flashback to when she got into climbing hinted that there's more to her than the freako stiff who you'd expect to be wearing a tight suit when not in her sportsbra and tights.
>I just never met anyone like that. It feels more like a forced sport anime trope. That's just how Japanese people are. When they come to America to study abroad, they are amazed that life could be so laid-back, fun and relaxed. In Japan, everyone is brought up to be so damn serious about everything.

>It feels more like Keijo, than typical sport anime, or CGDCT It will be like Keijo except instead of butts, armpits.
I just hope that the armpit service will be more young, thin girls like the purple haired girl and the other club members, and less like the Bruce-Jenner-esque brute we were forced to suffer through in the opening scene. That made my physically ill.
I watched videos of people bouldering around the world, and even in japan people are not like that. I seriously think climbing is the least toxic sport. Sure some people can get anal about dabbing online, but I could never see that in real life, especially to a beginner.
that's actually not true. Look at the top pro female climbers. Not many of them are that toned, and they come at different heights too ashima shiraishi is 154 cm (5 ft 1 in)
Wyatt Collins
Left: pretty much every female climber I know except increase the thickness of the shoulders and forearms by about 300%
My main gripes so far are the heavy gamer angle and the weird animation style at times, especially blonde's mouth. The former felt very out of left field, since I'd thought that I was literally the target demographic of this show, as someone who's decent at climbing and loves fit girls and their armpits. So I was expecting more of a keijo deal where it's just reveling in the sport and the fanservice, rather than being an outreach to people with no experience to try and convince them to give it a shot using normiebait analogies. Nothing against using anime as a gateway to get people into the sport, just not what I was personally hoping for. The constant "gamer" lines, while showing a bunch of casual mobile games was also annoying to me. I'll still be watching and enjoying the show, but I shall continue to dream of what could have been. Also red-hair best girl

Is that even a human?

It's not a very cute show though.

dude youtu.be/kStGdeDRCao?t=3448 I don't doubt you know women like that, but look at the women in the video. I think it might be your area
I considered the hardass rival to just be an obligatory sports anime move, I wouldn't see people being intimidated by it personally. I definitely thought there was an indoctrination vibe, like "look how this gamer can do great using her mind that's been enhanced by gaming! If she can do incredible immediately using her mental experience, even you, dear viewer, could do well and get into the sport with a little practice! See how fun it is!"
