So how come they haven't made an anime about chess yet?

Chess is too complicated for the rice-choked hearts of the Japanese to comprehend.

Code Geass

because shogi

They made one about Go, so there's no need.

They've already made anime about better chess.

Chess is much simpler than both shogi and go.

>Chess is much simpler than both shogi and go.
that's what makes it so complex

They did

So it's more complex because it's more simple?

Because Chess is a meme game that people use to pretend they're intelligent when in reality its literally just a children's game people get way too serious about.

I'm more upset at the lack of RTS games in anime. I can only think of 1 that uses it as a major plot point, and its a half assed way of doing it because its isekai.

Do you even watch anime bro?

Shogi is jappy Chess and Gatsu no Lion is already the pinnacle of that so there is no real need for any more attempts.

the actual chess in code geass is abysmal.

They did.

>whoa, one scene means the show revolves around it
>also, shogi

Chess is more fun at a mid level to play and watch. Unlike alot of games at high levels chess seems to evolve into more of a game about baiting out the same strategies but both people are trying to make the other fuck up first. Its why timer rules are in place at top level so the chance of fucking up is higher but the game would be total shit to watch if they took away the timer and people could just wait look at the entire board knowing pretty much every good possibility and then play around it making for a tiresome boring game.

Too be fair though most games eventually get "solved"

That's not entirely true - put Carlsen with no timer up against a computer with a timer and Carlsen will lose consistently even if he spends hours per move. AI shows that humans are still far from fully understanding the game.

There has been at least one manga with chess as the central theme but I don't know if any anime have done it.

Yes.
Divekick took this to the extreme for fighting games.

>Chess is much simpler than both shogi and go.
Shannon number is irrelevant unless you're secretly a super computer user.

>That's not entirely true - put Carlsen with no timer up against a computer with a timer and Carlsen will lose consistently even if he spends hours per move
Factually wrong

> lost once to this opening in 3rd grade
im still ashamed

I want a Bobby Fischer anime.

Learning chess is easy, becoming a master is a whole different matter. The limitations and emphasis on tactics in chess make it easy for an experienced player to defeat an amateur, whereas the greater possibilities in Go make it easier for an amateur to outwit a seasoned player. Two different games, some people will find chess easier than Go, some will find Go easier than chess.

That's the reason it's harder for an AI to defeat a Chess master.

The rivalry between Garry Kasparov and Vladimir Kramnik would be better.

Same for me, but it was 2nd grade. It's ok, we were just dumb kids.

literally false

b-6
your move
i dont know how to play chess

You'd have to be actually intelligent to make it and have intelligent audience to appreciate it

If it makes you feel better, Norman from The Promised Neverland played chess throughout the manga.

Mostly against himself and for strategy.
