Bleach

What went wrong?

Manga author stopped giving a shit and it showed, the audience left for other nonsense. While I grant this has a lot to do with shit working conditions and dealing with crappy management, doesn't change why it fell so hard and so fast from its throne.

should I bother reading the thousand year blood war arc or wait for animu?

honestly? not much

Maybe im just a retard but i was heavily entertained the whole way through. People shit on fullbringer arc for being too slow and coming off of one of the most hyped parts of the story, but it was my favorite. Sure the story probably wouldve been better had it ended there, but i felt fullbringer was a nice change of pace, facing ichigo against a problem he cant just unga bunga powerlevel his ass through until he does, and seeing im break down being unable to do anything while seeming everyone was against him was well done, even if the twist was predictable

Doesn’t have a Rival character for the MC

Too much reused panelwork and lots of dragged out fights that sucked since it's a weekly manga and so the quality isn't very good. Some moments were kino (such as THE HEART) however and the main villain for most of the story was pretty entertaining for an overpowered sociopath. Too many villains in the final arc. Too many tweests in the final arc. Too much focus on the shinigami in the final arc.

At least the fights should look cool in the anime when it continues next year.

Too many throwaway side characters.
Not enough focus.

>naruto wanted to be hokage
>luffy wants to be king of the pirates
What did Ichigo want to be? he had no real motivation outside the standard "muh friends! must stronger for friends!" he was too reactive as a character

Pretty much this, but to be fair, dragon ball is probably the biggest shonen in the world, and Goku is the blankest slate possible, yet the still keep throwing him in new shit

he wanted the power to protect people against all threats. "a sword that can protect everyone"

Yeah but Goku is always motivated to become stronger, always curious about new opponents and quick to make friendly rivals. Ichigo even lacks the basic desire to be the best beyond what is necessary to win at the moment.

Goku wants to keep getting stronger and keep on fighting.

Kubo is a massive fucking troll who clearly dislikes his job, and I can guarantee you he purposely spent all that time working on the last arc contemplating the worst ending possible.

Wasn't his original motivation just to save Rukia and after all that there wasn't really any going back
Bleach has boring main characters but I don't think lack of motivation is the main problem

Yammy

The Shinigami got too popular. Instead of developing the core cast of characters, we instead had a bunch of shit all focused on giving all of the captains + Some of the Vice Captains their own fights so they could show off their bankais.
This later hurt them when they introduced new characters in the Visards and Fullbringers, neither of them getting focus due to so much Shinigamiwank.

I think you could have cut the Gotei 13 down to like, 7, and not lose much. Isane is pretty much the sexiest design ever and explodes my dick whenever I see her, but I admit that a lot of the VCs could really be culled.

I didn't like the power-level asspulls

Ichigo getting buffed midfight during the big bad arc boss every arc was a very unfulfilling formula for me, and I never particularly cared for the main cast or side characters anyway so the series fell very flat for me

10/10 character design
10/10 OST
6/10 story
11/10 aesthetic

Need more Urban early 2000s anime. when was the last time you saw a character wear a fucking bucket hat and pull it off

for as much focus as the story had on the Visards, they really did jack shit. Most were just kinda there. And there was really little payoff when finding out like 5 different previously thought to be dead captains showed up.

Too many characters and few live up to their potential. Some fights that should be god tier end in the most lame way.

>he had no real motivation
Retard

The issue with Ichigo is that he's an MC that only reacts to the things that happen around him.

Those kind of MC's are never good or well written.

Shinji

shitji

I think the Fullbring arc was a little more interesting on that front, simply because Ichigo's desperation and the tighter focus made for some real tension. Until the shinigami show up, of course.

When will retards realize that him not wanting to be the king of ninja pirates was a good thing.
There's literally nothing wrong with Ichigo being a "reactionary protagonist"

shoving the retarded shinigami in everything they shouldnt have to show up halfway through every arc even when their not needed

Yusuke from YYH was likable and comes from a similar background of helping solve spirit problems to power level festivals.

Pierrot was good godammit when i look on Toei as a comparison

I trawl Bleach for fashion inspiration

Are you one of them homosexuals

a shitty writer

For me it was starting off on:
-Liking Kubo's art
-Having an interest in the setting, conceptually
After that the decline was mostly disappointment that he didn't really make the most of it, but that didn't stop me from reading. Disappointment's typical with these dumbass shonen manga, but failing expectations hardly amounts to dealbreaking.

It was when Kubo kept on repeating all the same old mistakes by an order of magnitude that I realized there wasn't going to be much left in the manga to hold my interest.
