We're actually going to see Naruto and Sasuke fight in this volume, right? No needlessly long flashback, RIGHT?

Yeah I liked him more when I thought he was a straightforward power autist.

Itachi's character is a total mess and his entire storyline is poorly written and filled with inconsistencies.

1.His actions contradict his intentions and all his plans failed yet he is the wisest person in the entire manga.

2.Itachi wants his brother to be a loyal leaf shinobi yet asks him to kill his best friend, who happens to be the freaking jinchhurki of the village.

3.He also sees the curse mark and knows about Orochimaru's sharingan obsession yet does nothing about it, in fact, Itachi is the only reason Sasuke defected to Orochimaru.

4. For 3 years Itachi knew Sasuke was training with Orochinaru. He knew he was in danger of being assimilated by Oro and didn’t give a shit.

5. Even Naruto (who out of the fucking blue started liking Itachi) totally forgets once Kisame was literally about to cut his leg which Itachi was totally fine with but okay.

6. Lets not forget how he raped Kakashi’s mind for 7 days with an extremely cruel genjutsu, and he and Kisame were about to kidnap him so they could interrogate him, torture him again and drop his dead body in a ditch somewhere

7. He did the same thing with Sasuke. Tortured him TWICE, broke his arm and kicked the living shit out of him like a dog.

8. He is supposed to be a “double agent” in Akatsuki, but never does anything against the interests of the organization, he helps them openly capturing Jinchurikies (even though he knew Pain would use the bijuus to nuke the villages) and never have the Hidden leaf any intel.

Itachi's character basically:

>"Sasuke u bitch, take that Tsukuyomi and watch how i killed all of our clan. Take that trauma u hoe, and don't forget to kill your best friend if u wanna become strong"

>Itachi later on: "That's not what i meant, i didn't want to turn u into a criminal ... I will always love u

Unconvincing and dull storywriting with badly written retcons.

When you look at their childhoods it actually makes sense for someone as deprived of human contact as Naruto would to consider Sasuke his best friend.

Itachi as a sociopath who wanted to test his power was a good villain. simple yet effective. itachi as a secret nice guy who loved his brother beginning of the end for naruto. yes it was foreshadowed but him being a leaf spy is what led to uchiha taking over the plot completely and catapulted the sharingan wank into the stratosphere.

Itachi being a spy for the leaf but still a fucking sociopath who killed his clan for power and using his brother as his final power up is a much better character
