Today marks the 20th anniversary of Digimon: The Movie.
Thoughts on this movie. Also if enough anons are up for it I can set a stream

20th anniversary, haha nice joke user ... oh shit.
If it wasn't for the nostalgic soundtrack this would be completely worthless, the fact that they got away with sticking three movies together, cutting out 40 minutes of footage and then completely rewriting the script and changing the placement of scenes to make it seem like there's one continuous narrative blows my mind. The script is about as faithful to the original films as an abridged series or the ghost stories dub.
A stream would be cool.
Angel anaconda digivolve to Angelmon!

Everytime I hear one week I think about this movie and I get hit with a huge wave of nostalgia. If I ever have children I will make sure they watch this as children. I know there are some people who hate this here but it's such an important part of my childhood that I can't hate it.
I'm down. Can't believe it's been 20 fucking years.

Motherfucking French Canadian library auto correct even hates Angela anaconda. Way to ruin my shitposting Quebec.
Dub jokes best jokes. Two bean salad.
could he have saved us from her?
Does Pokémon have anything close to a equivalent to Angelamon?
>BUT YOU'RE DRIVING
>could he have saved us from her?
Better question could he save your parents marriage?
Only pizza can save him
>Zig Forums retroactively calling Angela anaconda a good show because the creator of the cartoon was a lesbian
But why?
Thanks for the reminder.
What gets me is that story probably real. It’s sounds too random to be made up without any truth to it.
it was bound to happen to someone, a movie screen can't contain that much evil without casualties.
Aight. In 20 minutes if there's enough anons I'll post the link.
LETS KICK IT UP!
>20 year anniversary
This was the first movie I paid within my own money from my first gig trimming trees. Best soundtrack ever
Part 3 was kinda dissapointing, especially when this guy was the villain of part two.
well its hard to top perfection. have you only seen it dubbed? in japan the three parts were three entirely different movies, part 3 got a lot cut out of it/changed about it so you you might like blackfacemon more if you check out the original verson.
bath episode in the new series fucking when? they gave yamato and taichi actual butts (and also Weregarurumon because fucking furry artists)
IT'S BEEN
ONE WEEK SINCE YOU LOOKED AT ME
I fucking love this movie. Used to watch it on vhs as a kid and the past pacing, editing and dialogue heavily affected how I talk and behave. It's terrifying how similar my way of thinking is to how the movie goes. Almost as if I watched it so many times as a kid that it conditioned my behaviour.
Some people like to shit on the movie for changing so much about it but watching the original is genuinely painful because of how atrocious the sound design is. It really suffers from the same thing a lot of old anime suffer from, the music seems like an afterthought, like the scene was designed and animated and then they slapped some music that kinda fits the tone and if you're lucky some soundeffects.
Stream would be cool even if it'd probably not be the glorious German Dub I'm used to.
The only thing I can remember about this movie was I was more into what programs were running on the kid's computer than the actual plot.
why are there two terriermons? why does one look retarded? oh god TK WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR FAAAAAAAAACE
Yes, plus the awful short before the movie even starts too. The first Pokemon movie isn't nearly as bad of a translation job but I would still recommend people watch the original sub for Mewtwo's backstory and how Mewtwo is portrayed as less of an evil villain but more of an understandable antagonist who wants to prove his own worth. I know nostalgia is powerful but the source material was not respected by anyone who wanted a quick cash from a Japanese property in the 90s/2000s.
the dub for the first pokemon movie actually had a rerelease that included the cut backstory, which is the version that seems to be on all the streaming sites. unfortunately the changes to the script, simplification of Mewtwo and the "dur fighting bad" stuff 4kids put in is all still there. I grew up watching the movie on VHS over and over so finding out about the cut stuff when I went to watch it online for nostalgia was incredibly surreal
It's been... ONE WEEK.
The answer to all your questions is "Ken Penders".
He also did the art for several Beckett Digimon Collector magazines. Cute ideas, mediocre execution.
OWG comes out surprisingly intact.
Like, the only scenes missing are a few establishing just how rural Yamato and Takeru's grandma is and one tutorial for the Japanese emergency phone system.
The only real script change is Diablomon's origin and that was a non-factor in the original anyway.
