Apparently not with this new series and there were multiple times before the well dissappeared where both Kagome and Inuyasha could have fucked off to the future. They state the well stopped working after Kagome came back. And we already know Root Head is the one that either caused it to temporarily open again or created a similar mean of time travel from absorbing the wood of the tree of ages. Then whatever happened ten years prior to the series caused Towa to be stranded in the present and Moroha to get separated from her parents, with nobody knowing it was again possible to time travel before then.

The well stopped working after the Shikon jewel was destroyed for 3 years. Then it temporarily opened 1 last time allowing Kagome to go back to the past before permanently shutting down. This is all explained at the end of the series. Do you not remember or just enjoy being upset about nothing?
