How does the VN portray Shion beating up Satoko in the classroom? I know that DEEN likes to amp everything up and make everyone look crazy, but that already crossed the line for me and her reasoning for it isn't good enough. I know she lost herself in her act of revenge, but she already lost me when she can't even sympathize with Satoko. She just seemed boy crazy to me for someone who didn't do much to her besides help her out.

That scene is pretty much the same I think, for the most part her rampage is pretty similar in both except you miss out on a lot of her monologues and theories in her diary about the sonozaki conspiracy. I think she still comes off like a complete bitch through 99% of the arc though, same as the anime, the DEEN version is just the cliffnotes version of it. It's not really until the end that I felt more sympathetic to her, she has a little bit of sobering up after she kills Satoko but realizes she's too far gone too stop, has moments where she seems ALMOST about to stop and to believe in her sister before pulling a NICE TRY SIS anyway, but at the very end after she falls her head finally clears and she realizes everything she did and wishes to be reborn as a good person. Then in one of the later arcs she's genuinely loving and protective to Satoko and even transfers to the Hinamizawa class to be close to her. It feels like she got her wish and the regrets of that Shion found their way into the Shions of other worlds.

Thanks for the explanation, At least she gets better after this arc, but I'm not a fan of her at all so hopefully she isn't too involved in the story and can go run away with her beloved Satoshi so the better characters are in the story. At least it seems that she gets better.

DEEN more like CREENge

After that arc she's more of a support character, she has a role to play in the last two arcs but she's never as major a focus as she is in her own arc. I like her scenes in the final arc too, she's probably my least favorite of the core cast of kids but she redeems herself by the end I think.
