subtitles cater to the lowest common denominator of viewers and only people familiar with the language know what honorifics mean in context.
they're not necessary to convey roughly what's going on and just serve to lengthen the number of characters that your brain has to process for a given subtitle line

you could google this but -kun is usually for boys and -chan for girls. you would generally only use them for a child or somebody close to you. -san is general like you would use in a business or public setting

English does not have honorifics. There is no reason to preserve this artificial construct in translated dialogue. Instead, where honorifics are relevant, the translated dialogue should supply the necessary emotional context. Not translating honorifics is just lazy.
