A huge reason people misunderstand Shirou Emiya's characterization and subsequently dismiss it as "bland", "boring", and "generic" is that they don't recognize the meticulously-crafted nuances that give him form. This isn't an insult; newcomers--also known as "casuals" to the more uncouth individuals--are unfamiliar with shonen tropes, and only regurgitate what they perceive as ultimate truths as a result of blind hearsay.
Shirou transcends the quintessential tropes of a shonen character who lost someone important to him/her and seeks to atone and rise above this tragedy. He does not cleave to his deceased step-dad's teachings as if they are gospel merely because he was unable to safe him; he instead crafted his own ideals, virtues, and motivations in the way he saw as most advantageous in regards to accomplishing his ultimate goal: to utterly, WITHOUT FAIL, espouse his master's teachings. Shirou is not beholden to Kiritsugu or Archer's viewpoints or personal, individual ideals: he instead recognizes that his fallen step-dad would want him to walk his own path, regardless of the possible and probable contradicting vectors their respective moral codes could cross. You can only get so far on your own merits, after that you'll need friends and trusted people around you to achieve your desired goals and see which lies beyond strengh.
This, more than anything else, cements Shirou as his own character--indeed, his own man. He pulled himself up by his bootstraps, using his beloved step-dad's demise not as a crutch, but as a singular motivation to reinforce HIS OWN beliefs, HIS OWN ways of life, while at the same time deftly weaving Kiritsugu's persona into his own mode of existence and appreciating the parallels between Saber's inner conflict and Shirou's..
Dropped it after reading Fate route, game is boring but Shirou is eternally based for telling Saber to get back into the kitchen.

TL;DR isnt a meme user. Being verbose does nothing to strengthen your arguments when you only have 1 point. In fact it does the opposite cause now you seem equally likely to be some ironic shitposter trying to sound smart with bait.
Based Lancer, you can always rely on him to get to the heart of any problem
Matthew Perry
He's right you know.
Shirou also commented that a certain character needed to get raped to get her to become more feminine.

>Be depressed college faggot >Read Fate on a whim from a thread on here >Become inspired to be a autistic hero of justice, my life is worthless and the only semblance of satisfaction I can get is saving another >become firefighter and training to join the army Some days I don't know if I made the right choice from getting my inspiration from a chuunishit porn game. But I guess I have to live without regrets.
David Cox
same but to a lesser degree.
Landon Ross
tl;dr OP's post just dropping by to say Kojiro is so cool.

>Some days I don't know if I made the right choice from getting my inspiration from a chuunishit porn game. But I guess I have to live without regrets. Does it matter where your ideal comes from, user? Surely it may be a fake ideal coming from an eroge, or maybe something you use justified your own personality flaw.
But there is nothing said that the fake may not surpass the original, is it not?
That pic is made by someone who completely missed the point or didn't even pay attention. >UBW Knows he's wrong but proceed anyway, hence the "just because you're correct doesn't mean you're right" line that many autists don't get. >HF Literally gave up being a seigi no mikata for everyone because he realizes being Sakura's ally matters more.
Oliver Anderson
Sure, the origin might have been autistic, but that doesn't make it any less beautiful, user.
Chase Scott
It's a meme, user. Besides, the first panel is accurate.
William Perez
UBW Shirou is best Shirou.
Charles Price
Yes, a meme made by someone who don't know shit, so it's a meme that has a punchline that made no sense.
I still can't but feel bad at how lame Fate Route Shirou would sound next to his other selves

To be fair, Demiya is very gangsta

Shirou has one of the greatest character arcs ever written. Anyone who calls him a self-insert harem protagonist has no idea what they are talking about. He is his own man and his own character.
