1. Because it's fucking old.
2. Because it's a trainwreck towards the end, has a completely useless China arc that is conveniently retconned by the story itself, and a terrible ending.
3. Because it just doesn't have much to talk about.

newfags should only read volume 1 to volume 11 and then read the final chapter of the china arc for closure (end of volume 17 or 18 or so)

I tried this once but the gay rape beginning, combined with how badly the author's other series Glaucos had fallen apart, made me decide not to bother.

It starts off interesting, but completely falls apart. The ending is an absolute disaster.

I disagree
the over the top edge was used in ways that mostly felt like it propelled the story and main conceit of the manga
I just really love the idea of doing a shonen protagonist who wants to do nothing but fight and will win by any means necessary, but showing how that mind set would make you a total psychopath

in retrospect the wushu shit was probably the best and most high quality arc of the entire manga.
the only problem was that it deviated heavily from the other parts of the story.

still though, if you look at it objectively, it's fantastic. has a nice climax, looks amazing.
It's like a self contained kung fu movie.

I won't spoil too much but personally i don't think is that bad, hell is an appropiate way to end his story, he always got fuck over, so the ending feel appropiate for him, people just hate the final fight btu even that has it's own level of irony.

WHile I didn't care for the final arc, I did enjoy the way he died, and his final conversation with the elk-like thing

For a completed series with a bad ending it does get a lot of discussion and attention here compared to a lot of other manga.
