Nope the characters in a story there is the MC the MC is the center of the story , the mirrow of the reader to the manga's world the reader is happy,afraid, suffer with the MC we feel is emotions and get invested in his story.
but something changed into manga world soon manga industry noticed that 1% of people spend more money than others this people are called Coomers.
if i want to fap i go to a porn site but these people nope they want ruin our beautiful story with soft-porn fanservice. authors were forced to prostitute their own work to remain alive and soon MC lost all their personality and special traits so these coomers can think of being the MC and intereact with the girls. not only the MC but even secondary characters change.
from a great cast of real humans to a 99% female cast of archetype girls can only act according with their personality and the best male MC's friend become a faggot so female Coomers can spend their money.
All of these destroy all the story, become more simple so authors can add more fanservice moments in this dark age all the ligth seems death but the phoenix always resurrect from their ashes.
Webtoons born and everything changed. Webtoons's MC , like in the old good times, is the total center of the story, a real human with his own personality and morale. he is not perfect , he commit errors , he need hardworking but he will never accept to go agaisnt his ideal
a single character can carry his entire series ALONE. we all cant stop reading his story because we cant stop dont think about him. this is a real MC webtoons dont need porn to survive need just masterpiece story with great REAL characters
this is why webtoons are taking over of manga industry.

I wish we could get mha art with unordinary story. MHA has great character design and such, but many characters are a bit bland, especially fucking mc who is basically helpbot 5000 with no desires or interests other than most generic becoming "da best". Unordinary has mc with similiar background and personality on surface, but he is a bit more fleshed out, he pretends not to react on people giving him shit on surface, but he eventually blows up under pressure like a human would and seeing his partially justified tantrums is very entertaining, but art is a total shit often fucking 3d trees at the park for example just buncha polygons, theres also shitty side plot about heroes and whatnot, but its not too long, just skip that shit.

I've read a bunch that are popular that always lead with the MC being too strong to be interesting, the Sword King gag one is alright and Peerless Dad is something I actually enjoy alot. The kid aspect is where I think it becomes more interesting than if it was too focused on the dad
