You already know the answer to that but truthfully I think she will get major development when Rem wakes up and Subaru realizes he's in love with her more while Emilia develops her envy and then the series moves towards the endgame arcs of the WoE being born again and time loop shenanigans. That's my theory as to why Rem has been kept comatose and alive for so long and why she even has a major role in the 1st place
