Eh, I'm not so sure about that. FLCL was always a coproduction with IG. Something similar technically could have happened to PSG but if it did we haven't heard about it, so there's no real reason to think it did specifically.

But it does mean that Trigger most likely don't have the rights to their works that their staff was involved in when a part of Gainax (like Khara). Pretty sure Anno also said the rights to works he wan't involved in was sold off, but then again who knows how good the translation I read was or whether psg is included.
