All she has is fanservice.

Sure, the chapter was fun. That's all I can say so far.

>timeskip
I am not even going to bother, at least Asumi route was good

all I ever hear/see of this character is her ass. is that all she has going for her?

everyone knew it would be a timeskip, you can't have illegal underage romance in WSJ

No, but it's the most prominent thing.

The time skip is not even the worse thing, it can be decent if used properly, is the stupid promised girl cliche that is the problem.

>the stupid promised girl cliche that is the problem.
That's only a problem if it becomes a major plot point that other things depend on. In otther words, it can be handled poorly, or it can be handled well.

Yea it could only be handled well if it doesn't become some pillar of the entire plot. I'd much prefer if it's just completely done away with.

The only way to handle it well is to ignore it desu.

I can tell you, I'm not a fan of that trope either. But I won't give up on the route because of it.
If it even is a serious promise. As another user suggested in the last thread, it could just have been a dismissive "I'm too old for you, but once you're older, we'll see" kind of thing.

Any sensei route is bound to be a good one

Stop making threads
The hype is dead
Tsutsui killed it

I haven’t read the impressions of other anons to the first chapter so I’m not sure what the consensus is, but I need to be honest and rant as an ardent Senseifag. After the CP and chapter spoilers dropped, I was a bit depressed about the direction 5/5 seemed to start in, but I tried to see the silver lining in the elements that were introduced and argued towards giving the route a chance. I don’t disagree with any of the arguments myself or others made towards being patient, but the translation was a game changer and gave a clearer view of where things might go.
To be perfectly blunt, this chapter fucking nauseated me. It nauseated me on every level from a writing standpoint, a character standpoint, and as an outline of the general scenario to come. This chapter thoroughly shat on any sentimental view of Nariyuki and Mafuyu’s story in the common route from a romantic or platonic perspective. Starting from the jinx, the primary focus of both characters is on a promise from the past that we were given no context to in the common story and lays a foundation towards this route’s endgame. We’re then given a timeskip four years past the common story to Nariyuki and Mafuyu as coworkers and their dynamic is ironically more slanted than when they were teacher and student. Mafuyu’s competence only shines by way of Nariyuki being clumsy and the two’s personal life only reconnects by the coincidence of sharing an acquaintance. We’re given a small run through of some of their gags and left to wait for the next week.

(cont.)
At a glance this is a typical introductory chapter made to lay the groundwork for what’s to come; it’s functional at best, uninspired at worst. But regardless of quality this chapter does the majority of its damage through implication. The jinx has neither character pay heed to the absurdity or possibility of the jinx’s implication on the their then current relationship. The timeskip paints their impact on each other during the common route in the dullest possible light. With four years having past, we’re given as stagnant a look at future Mafuyu as any of the routes have offered. Her reputation and teaching style are as cold as ever and her personal life is just as hopeless. Nariyuki and Mafuyu have become proper strangers in private despite being the only pair in the common story to meet each other without obligation. All this sets up for them “reconnecting”, but the reasons for their parting aren’t as reasoned as Nariyuki and Asumi. The damage this chapter does is something that tempered expectations can’t protect you from. It cheapens the impact that Nariyuki had on Mafuyu during the common story and dampens the special aspect of their relationship that allowed them to be at the very least truly friendly towards each other despite the gaps between them. The way the jinx structures this story makes any gains they make in their relationship mere stepping stones towards fulfilling some greater destiny rather than two people growing closer to each other by meeting their needs.

Her ass is there to draw you into a sweet love story between a teacher and student that has been tragically stifled by the PTA. We're reading this route to see if the author can recover the magic.

It's stupid because it's the first thing both characters think of when it happens despite them having no recollection of it in the main story.

Agreed. The things that made their relationship interesting and special were given a middle finger with the timeskip. There is no reason why the upcoming romance arc couldn't have happened when they were at the apex of their development together, namely the 'I love midwinter' chapter. Certain fags will justify the timeskip claiming that it makes sense for Mafuyu to have rejected Nariyuki in the past, without realizing that that doesn't mean Nariyuki couldn't have chased after her like he did for example in Uruka's route, especially if he was aware of Mafuyu's feelings for him. And if he wasn't, why must there be a 4 years gap for him to gain that knowledge and try again?
And if they just stopped interacting for no reason, shit becomes even worse because the relationship reset is just Tsutsui admitting his damn cowardice.

I hate the timeskip. I tried to bear it but I stopped when I reach this page.

it was handled poorly 5 times?

Also this page. Promise? What the fuck?

It's pretty cute.

Even if Nariyuki thought that Sensei was beyond impossible as a romantic option, there is no reason for their relationship to have deteriorated to the point where this interaction only happened by chance.

22i is just hammering in the fact that 5/5 is the true end

The jinx played no active role in 1,3, and 4/5.

Implying that by such a heavy-handed method might work for nips, but showing is always to be more satisfying than telling.

I loved it, don't get the complaints, timeskip as co-workers was obvious, don't understand the problem, the promise will only be a bad thing is too much importance is given to it, otherwise it's just a cute thing to do.

Nariyuki's grown up family and it being set in the same town with timeskipped versions of all the old characters make is much better than the previous routes already.

Yeah. Pages like set me off. It's like nothing ever changed, but in a non endearing way.

That stupid promise just make me can't treat this route as canon. This is just a complete reset. You know what? Despite Tsutsui saying that every routes are canon, it really doesn't feel like it. They all are just spin-off.

The timeskip situations and call backs were sloppy and it felt like Mafuyu was frozen in time. It hardly felt like an inspired or natural choice.

It seems like this type of comment is made at the start of every route.

This route can still be good, but the way this chapter starts out 22i put its max potential at legendary hackery with a pinch of kino as opposed to outright legendary. He nerfed the storyline he setup.
