Detective Conan

It's a waste of time to remaster episodes just to air them on television once and never release them elsewhere. Especially if those episodes are aired outside of weekly premiere slots, so people don't even record them. Why do they do this? Even the Blurays with episodes that have aired remastered just use shitty DVD upscales.

This fucking blows Zig Forums, they air the best episodes off-schedule and most of the on-schedule ones are fucking Detective Boys.

Nobody from the west who is sane is going to bother watching all of detective conan. This show is for boomer Japs who have spent decades watching the show on TV anyway.

The narration (intro, recaps, announcements) never stops patronizing the audience, it's very obviously for children.

I've watch the series twice. It's fun.

People from the west don't matter, who gives a shit about them? These air on Japanese TV once and if they're on-schedule, they get ripped by the Japanese. If they air off-schedule no one gets them online which is so far the only way these continue to circulate and are made available after their exclusive television airing.

What I don't get is why a massive franchise's old episodes only get remastered for sporadic TV airings and not for something like a Bluray collection people can buy and the companies involved can pocket the money from.

I don't know about remasters but some group needs to go back and do the old subs in better quality. The fansubs from the early 2000s are fucking awful sometimes, I forget which one it was but the audio was distorted as hell and killed my ears.

Well usually when these episodes get remastered and make their way online, someone takes the subs from before and puts them on the remaster, so it's the best of both worlds. In those cases you can tell they took old subs because they leave in certain parts of the remaster airing with new dialogue (usually Conan talking about the case before the show starts while looking at the camera) and it has no subtitles for it.
