The real flaw is that most of the fanbase is that the author has made the main girl Emilia so unappealing. Then has the nerve to make the more appealing one, that being Rem, be asleep for over 10 yrs. It could be big brain on Tappei's part to generate hype and sales when she wakes up or it could fall short.

Emilia actually grew on me durning arc 5-6, i think her speech about "making" subaru look her way implies she will probably get violent, so i'm just looking forward to future chaos.
I also thought rem doing things like charging whale was annoying, because she kept dying and subaru had to reset, so she wasn't perfect just best in the series, to the point where series got renamed from her speech.

Flaw:
It's an isekai that's aimed at teenagers. This means it's full of teen angst, it has very shallow themes but pretends it's very profound and deep because teenagers don't have the mental maturity to tell the difference (not an insult, just how growing up works) and it has a lot of cardboard personality waifu's and fetish baiting.
Pro's:
If you're an angsty teen, a fetish degenerate, or into that shit regardless then this show is for you. For anyone expecting a good fantasy show or remotely good writing, give this one a skip

Emilia has all the charisma of a wet sock. Rem lost just about everything that made her character compelling after she did a 180 into worshiping Subaru. Subaru legitimately suffers from a learning disability. Re Zero's merits are that interesting things manage to happen on the side despite the crippling presence of the main characters.

Was there some q/a where author says that themes are supposed to be deep or profound? All i've seen mostly him saying stuff along the lines "enjoy the ride" not "my story is deep and misunderstood", i don't think he is too fussy about "depth".
