mpv

VLC because it just works right out of the box.
No bullshit setups that gives your computer 3 bitcoin miners and a keylogger.
The only con is that you'll be harassed on Zig Forums for no reason for using it.
Let's be real, VLC is the industry standard for a reason.

I seriously can't imagine what would lead someone to not use mpv

Installing MPC-HC and madVR by themselves without using a bloated codec pack in 2020

i use vlc because ive been using it since forever and i dont want to change it

Been using CCCP since 2012, even though they haven't updated since 2015.
Too lazy/too much of a boomer to switch to mpv and deal with getting adjusted.
Is CCCP bloated?

It doesn't have bluray support

vlc has awful playlist implementation. windows media player is still king if you want to queue up an entire season so you can leave it running in the background

>codec packs
Is that still a thing on Windows? I just tick the multimedia codecs box in the installer and everything justwerks on Linux.

>Windows garbage
Filthy proprietary bootlicker.

For me, it's MPV with webbum scripts.

>No bullshit setups that gives your computer 3 bitcoin miners and a keylogger.
stop being retarded by downloading malware
>Let's be real, VLC is the industry standard for a reason.
lol, no one in the industry uses video players, if they need to watch something they'll just do it from their video editing software

>Is CCCP bloated?
It's not only bloated but terribly outdated. CCCP's version of madVR doesn't even have the NGU upscaler which looks better and runs faster than Jinc/Lanczos. You're also missing up-to-date LAVfilters.

Yes, on windows there are people who are willing to sacrifice 30 seconds of their time to get an objectively better video quality for the amazing price of FREE.
Of course we also have retards like and on our OS.

I know you're just a baiting /g/tard but codec packs haven't been relevant for more than a decade now

mpv project will probably be dead very soon. wm4 was kicked out from mpv group. with only few sane devs remaining they too will burn out and mpv will be dead.

I just use potplayer

dude weed lmao

>mpv-fags still suggesting their program when the GUI can't be stopped taking over the video

I don't even know what a codec is.

I've noticed that on releases with very fancy typesetting (like 0x539's Maid Dragon release) my player slows down almost to a halt while all that shit is on the screen.
Is that due to me still using CCCP or is it because my CPU is kinda shitty and is my PC's bottleneck?

MPC-HC
K-Lite codec pack

from a shitty laptop perspective vlc is the only one that doesn't lag AV1 vids like crazy for me

neat

>B-loatware codec pack

No media player has decent BD support besides the shitty proprietary one, and even that one doesn't play 4K BDs

nice shitty upscale

Could be both. As far as I remember CCCP still uses xySubfilter for rendering subtitles which is extremely old right now. It was necessary back when MPC's internal subtitle renderer was actually dogshit, but nowadays it's fine, making xySubfilter kinda redundant. I had a release of Boogiepop Phantom where xySubfilter rendered the subtitles incorrectly and would keep breaking, at that point I had to uninstall it and stick to the internal renderer.

You should update either way, old versions of madVR don't really work well with newer GPU drivers.

>wm4 was kicked out from mpv group.
Really? It's for the better then, he went full schizo recently.

I'm using vlc because i honestly can't bother with other options. Got used to it.

I just use Plex and watch stuff on my TV
