Dragonball: How did Tagoma go from Zarbon-level to stronger than Piccolo and Gohan?

When he's introduced we're said he and the red guy "rivaled Zarbon and Dodoria at their peaks."

How did this guy go from that to training with Freeza and becoming stronger than Ultimate Gohan and Piccolo who after the Boo arc was probably on SSJ2 level?

Also obviously referring to Super's adaption of this arc and not the movie, in the movie he's killed by Freeza in the first 5 minutes.

Toriyama stopped caring about his own power scaling after EoZ, more so than any time during it.

This is the same arc in which Goku almost dies from being shot by a regular laser weapon while ik SSB form.
Toriyama just doesnt gives a fuck about consistency; Everything follows the rule of drama.

This guy and Jiren are proof that the Z fighters are slacking.

Also dont forget Trunks going from SS2 to surpassing Blue just because of angery

And 17 surpassing Blue level by fighting poachers

In the anime he powers down to base form at least before the common laser gun shoots him from the back.

I think with Androids their power just consistently increases whether they train or not. 18 is probably much stronger too for that matter.

no, that's just your headcanon. if anything, the androids got weaker in the original story, since the ones in trunks' timeline were much weaker

It's so weird people complained about the Boo saga for years but at least there power levels still made sense. SSJ3 showed there was a limit to power for non-fusions and Boo fit being sealed away for millions of years.

Why does this upset people. When DB characters stand around and flex on lasers they are flexing their energy to defend themselves

This is how Supershills mind work
"B-but Krillin got stronger because he's a human, and humans have prodigy dna!"
Every time.

that's because there's 3 types of people who defend super:
1. people who hated dragonball z and wanted more "adventure", so they want anything that can legitimize the fighting focus to be gone (even though dragonball will never be about adventure again, no matter if power levels are gone or not)
2. people who just "turn off their brain" and somehow enjoy it
3. people who want to see irrelevant characters doing something (like roshi using mui, even though the minor characters will never really get to shine again. even gohan is a jobber now, piccolo at most gets to shine once in a blue moon before obviously jobbing)

in the end, there were 2 things dragonball z didn't completely destroy: power levels and a semblance of character consistency/development, of which people remember mostly vegeta, but goku, gohan and piccolo were all pretty consistent. super flanderized all of them, to different degrees and also destroyed the power level/scaling. even the manga, which isn't as inconsistent as the anime. the entire black arc, as well as some things in the top (like vegeta landing a hit on jiren when goku + hit could not)

because goku was dodging bullets as a child, when he was literally millions of times weaker. it just doesn't make sense, no matter how tired or relaxed he might be

they don't really "think". they just "turn off their brains" or they don't really care about it in the first place. you can't really argue with them about it because they don't have an argument in the first place

Yeah, and old sagas shows attacks catching people off-guard can damage them.

Kid Trunks was able to kick Fat Buu and send him flying when he was beating the crap out of Vegeta when he first awoke...and Fat Buu couldn't be defeated by anyone under SSJ3.

Same way Gohan was able to do damage to Freeza on Namek at times despite being far weaker.

The power of the humans is relatively consistent. All Krillin and Tien did was beat weaker fighters in the tournament or weak Freeza henchman, same with Roshi.

It's only Piccolo and Gohan's massive loss of power that doesn't make sense along with Goku/Vegeta's insane power creeps that renders everyone else more useless than usual

Apparently Frieza soldiers can train up in a few week beyond what anyone on Earth does with 15+ years of intense training can accomplish.

you are comparing a SUPER SAIYAN hitting majin buu to a GUN hitting super saiyan BLUE goku. the difference is much wider than you can even begin to describe. super saiyan 3 couldn't touch beerus. super saiyan god couldn't land a hit on jiren. goku was dodging guns when he was a fucking child with no formal training

it's like saying that because a dog's bite can make me take a step back, an ant can knock me over. they're completely different magnitudes

ToP Krillin is one thing, Pre-ToP Krillin was laughable writing
Hey let's have this baldie beat Gohan and push SSB Goku 0,000000001% Kamehameha holding back meme
Might as well not even transform

Non-canon shit

If you're referring to the ep Goku used blue against him, he was clearly testing him and was in no way using anything remotely to real power. In early Super, Goku in base form punches Krillin and sends him flying through the air. So that was obviously not the same thing.

We also have 18 constantly reminding Krillin that she's much stronger than he is. The humans are probably all around where they were in the Cell saga still.

Then what's the point of turning SSB, just dye your fucking hair blue.

It's explained. He was beaten up until near death and then restored with advanced medicinal tech over and over, resulting in his body growing incredibly stronger.

The power levels don't really make sense there either though once you look at the secondary characters, like how all the different stages of Super Saiyan are suddenly ignored and everyone is just using "Super Saiyan" with no bulky boost or conservation of energy by avoiding transformation, but are still much stronger than the Androids. This gets even worse when you get to Trunks and Goten, who get described as really dangerous by 18.

Then there's also the bit where Dabura senses the BASE power of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo and Kuririn and singles out Kuririn and Piccolo as the weakests, the same Piccolo who could stand up to the Cell Jrs who matched Super Saiyan Vegeta in the Cell Saga.

I thought it was weirder Super made it seem like bullets were a big deal when both Goku and Krillin could tank them as kids before they even began their training with Master Roshi.

They dropped the muscle forms of Super Saiyan when they proved to be too slow against Cell. I imagine they just go straight to Super Saiyan 2 whenever they go blonde.

Same reason Goku barely uses SSJ3, it's a drain of energy and the whole form is obsolete now.

This.
Goku turns SSB to take a piss.

>They dropped the muscle forms of Super Saiyan when they proved to be too slow against Cell.
They dropped the second one that Trunks used, but the first one that Vegeta used is still used by Trunks and Vegeta when they're facing the Cell Jrs.

>Muh off screen training
Basically the answer for everything in DBS.

Krillin's gym will help him reach UI

>This gets even worse when you get to Trunks and Goten, who get described as really dangerous by 18.

She was fighting them both at the same time, but she clearly wasn't using her full strength since she didn't want to hurt them. When she throws one Ki blast at them Trunks is surprised.

The weird thing is we have no idea how strong 18 is now. One would assume like 17 her strength increased but there's no real way to gauge her.

You have account for how Tenshinhan is a jobber. It only works if there is as little evidence that you actually trained. Like some reasonable time investment.
