If the anime had gone further it probably would have turned into a more straight and serious show with bits of it's comedy still there, kind of almost like slayers even.

I don't know about that, one of the things I like about the serious moments is that there aren't that many of them, so when they happen it's kind of interesting because you see a different side of the characters. I couldn't imagine konosuba has a more serious show.

Personality-wise and story-wise it would be best if Chris won. Hell the LN should just be about the thieving adventures of the two of them.

I desperately hope the post-story series gives us more thief shit. It was nice to see some them collaborating again in volume 12 and Continued and would be cool to dabble into it some more.

Major fights occur in volumes 7 (Hydra), 9 (Wolbach), 10 (but I don't think obliterating everything into dust with a single shot counts), 13 (I think? Haven't read it in a while), 14 (Moguninnin), and 17 (Demon King). Even then, outside of 7, 9 and 17, these "fights" are very brief.
Volumes 6, 8, 11, 12, and 15 are more character-driven, and while Serena is taken down in 15, it wasn't really a "battle". Same with volume 12 where Eris slapped the shit out of Zereschrute. Volume 16 has power-level cheesing by having Wiz and Vanir effortlessly beat monsters to the brink of death for Kazuma to finish off, but no major fights.
