Burnout

do any of you ever face burnout issues? i burnt out pretty hard in 2015 on anime and am only now starting to think about getting back into it. do you do anything to help prevent burning out doing something you enjoy?

There was a couple of years around 2015 that I stopped watching anime and reading manga too. I think just try not to binge stuff. I've been watching an episode or two of a few shows and reading a volume of manga every day or so recently instead of watching 5+ episodes of the same show. Maybe try doing something other than watching anime/reading manga too.

In my experience people don't get burnt out on things they truly enjoy.

By not forcing myself to like anime and manga that aren’t interesting. Really just being more selective in general

yeah i definitely agree about not binging helping.. i think one of the main issues was my friend convincing me to create a myanimelist and i started to feel like i needed to watch more anime and adding it to my list to wrack up more time watched and other bullshit.

I do the opposite. I binge hard for a few weeks at a time, then take a few weeks off and do something else. Every time I come back, it feels fresh.

Not really burnout but anime is definitely phasic for me. Tends to peak in the summer and winter for me.

i could possibly agree on that. while i havent been watching any new anime in the past 5 years i still enjoy rewatching things i did enjoy in the past.

do you have a system for looking for new anime to watch without feeling like youve watched a ton of anime you dont enjoy? i used to have a hard time trying out anime each season to see what id like without getting sick of it

Don't watch seasonally. Waiting a few months means the garbage naturally fades away.

i put anime off after a solid decade of non-stop watching it. it was nice to finally watch other stuff like twin peaks and mad men.

What about doing things you like instead of being retarded on a chinese cartoon board. I been watching anime for the last 30 years, watching 26 shows this season, having a good time.

I went through this a bit. Now I just watch shows after they've finished instead of trying to keep up with a bunch weekly.

Do you remember specifically why you burnt out in 2015? Watching too many shitty shows, or weird stuff happening irl?

I was suffering from withdrawal because I only watched 2 shows in spring and 1 show during summer

my heart hurts whenever I realise I will never have someone as wonderful as candystore.

I love Burnout!

I have the opposite, I bounce off nearly everything and even when I like a series I tend to drop it once I feel like I've seen what it wants to do.

Don't be a seasonal-fag and watch shows I spread out bursts of binging. They won't get old, and you'll have some time to play vidyah or work.

yup. was from watching too many shows at once. now i have a hard time getting myself to try out new anime usually. if i ever watch anything its just rewatching old stuff i have enjoyed before

You can also play games that looks like anime user.

oh my god not here too

I burnt out on seasonal anime, now I only watch vintage shoujo anime.

These two are correct. Don't just senselessly consume seasonal crap for the sake of expanding your MAL e-peen, and watch shows that actually interest you instead. Also do something other than watch anime; if it's literally your only hobby of course you're gonna get tired of it.

While I'm only joking, I'm actually serious of my advice here. Go play some JRPG.
Haha..

VNs too, please.

Tf burnout? I only watch anime or read manga I enjoy. Sometimes I miss entire seasons because nothing interests me

This.

You can't believe how this little green-haired tsundere cured my burnout and gave me depression instead.

I do most of my anime watching just to pass time at my boring wagie job. I work alone so even if my boss cared, he'd never notice me watching it. If I'm reading a manga, I tend to just read for an hour or two before I go to bed.

I'm certainly burnt out on slice of life. Although i watched the last episode of gochiusa season 2 stoned and it was very good. But yea sometimes changing genres or watching some live action shit can help.

I think I'm starting to reach that point too but it's really the only stuff I want to watch still.

i have been playing a bit of VNs here and there. was really into utawarerumono earlier this year
