I almost think it was something like they had agreed internally to release ads and stuff about him a week after release so the VA could promote it openly and so on. One guy probably convinced them to leave Akaza out of the prerelease promotion and one week was all they'd allow after that.
But they stuck to the schedule even though the movie was doing better than their wildest dreams instead of letting more people see it unspoiled and it absolutely does not need any more advertising in Japan, but they followed what they'd already decided.
