I watched some of it dubbed back in highschool in like 2005 and I just recently watched it all subbed. Definitely one of the best SoL anime and seems to have began a lot of the SoL tropes that so many shows still use today.

AD was a bigger part of Zig Forums's culture than Yotsubato. It wasn't even close. Besides the touchstone of "404 girl" the latter was almost irrelevant. Just a handful of people actually involved in keeping the lights on were into Yotsuba and so it showed up in the Zig Forums's code that way.

Zig Forums's code is based on modified futaba code. Futaba refers to a plant bud with two leaves, yotsuba to a plant bud with 4. Hence Zig Forums (instead of 2chan) and hence Yotsuba being the 404 girl and unofficial mascot.
P.S. Sakaki is best girl followed very closely by Kagura.
