Sex Museum is a Spanish rock band from Madrid, formed in 1985.
Originally the band began among the mod scene of Madrid playing rock music. Their first published material is highly influenced by a plethora of genres, for instance soul and R&B or several rock genres as garage or psychedelic. There's one in Amsterdam. I mainly recollect sex toys and fetish outfits, but I think there was also stuff about historic sex work.
does it really says sex museum? Can some moon reader confirm
that is indeed what it means
though 秘宝 also means treasured thing so could be a context mistranslation or a clever double entendre

Sex museum. sex museum with chino-chan
It's weird, none of the kanji specifically seem to have anything to do with sex, but when you search for 秘宝館 it definitely shows you sex museums. Japan is a strange place.

No no, you must be mistaken.
I have seen a B U D D I N G meme around this character. What does that even mean?
By me
Sex with Chino Museum
I think it's supposed to be a room/area/whatever where you hunt for treasure, maybe it's even a subtle nod to the treasure hunt episode in S2. On the other hand it's hard to believe the double entendre is unintentional when they probably could have used 秘宝室 instead.
Post the tracklist.
based?
What is on display in Chiya's wing of the sex museum?
It is very clearly explained in the second sentence of that article.
>もともとの言葉のニュアンスでは性風俗に限らず歴史的に重要な古今東西の珍品・秘宝を収蔵した施設のことを指しているように感じられるが、実際には「○○秘宝館」と呼ばれる施設は性風俗に関係する物品を陳列する施設とほぼ同一であり、「秘宝館」という語は主に性や性風俗を扱った施設を婉曲的に指すのに用いられている。
It was obviously translated ignoring context or common sense so it is indeed a mistranslation.
Going to the sex museum with Megu!
No, if you read the article, it says
>Originally, the term was not used exclusively to refer to an institution that gathers items related to sexual culture. However, the phrase "___ Treasure Museum" came to mean one in the same thing as that sort of institution, and as a result, the latter part of the term "Treasure Museum" came to mean the same thing by association.
Basically, they used to say something like "Sexual Treasure Museum" but that made the "Treasure Museum" part become highly associated with the "Sexual" part, so eventually "Sexual" was dropped entirely.
I was responding to this part
>It's weird, none of the kanji specifically seem to have anything to do with sex
Specifically that the term is used euphemistically despite originally meaning something else. (As far as I can tell the show is using the original definition).
I disagree. The article is says that 「秘宝館」in modern Japanese exclusively refers to an institution that gathers and displays sexual paraphernalia. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's pretty clear about this, and considering the show is in modern Japanese, it's safe to translate it as "sex museum"
Fair enough. I could be wrong about this too.
