School Days does to the harem genre what Evangelion does to mecha. It deconstructs the trope of what would happen if a harem protagonist actually DID fuck all the girls indescriminately. It casts every limp-dicked, weak willed, indecisive harem MC in a much more positive light. They might have been spineless, but their series didn't end with a boat trip.

That's the brilliance of School Days.

Wait, people hate it? I found the anime quite good and redpilled. It basically showed how stuff like a harem anime would play out in real life.

Chad is a coward who happens to look good, so he just fucks everything that moves but refuses to take any kind of responsibility. A chick gets obsessed with him and another one jealous enough to kill him.

All characters were realistic and believable enough and outside of the extreme result at the end, I know a Chad like that who had a similar school experience (he ended up as a drug addict failure tho, but he banged everyone in our school including the hot female teacher when he turned 16).

OST is meh at best. Maybe that one song they had at the last episode was kind of neat but that's pretty much it.

It’s well known because despite the vn having perfectly normal endings it had some really fucked bad ends, and unlike every other vn anime they based it on the bad end

Anime made up the worst and most shocking possible route of it's own, so that people infuriated with the ending would buy the game and play through their own route.
It was amazing and the devs were fucking genius.

It's realistic only to the point where the MC gets killed. That isn't really likely to happen IRL. IRL the scorned women would just band together to form their Metoo group to shit on Mankoto. Actually scratch that, this is Japan, they wouldn't do shit.

It's great, but it plays out more like low budged anime/hentai than your typical VN.
