Onikakushi is free on steam for you to try out on your own. Look up 07th mod and find a combination of graphic/audio settings that fit your personal taste.

Ending of the VN was shit. Minagoroshi was almost a believable win without asspulls, didnt need any more. Akasaka alone would've made minagoroshi a win. Still a great overall story though. Far better than the anime, and a pretty decent alternative to the VN. All you really miss out on is the music and some early club games at times.

At the beginning of chapter 2 right now, so far I can say that Umineko was definitely better.

What's good about the WTC series is that it's so diverse that people have their preferences for what they like more. Umineko is my favorite as well but I love Higurashi and I'm sure you will too user. Just understand they are two totally different stories.

I'd be curious if any deaf people like these two sound novels
