I've heard good things about this, but can't get past the "bully redemption I've grown and changed" aspect of all.
I need to see bullies get what they fucking deserve, not how everything works out for them. Is it done well here?

The manga does a better job illustrating it
That’s what the movie is... over and over.... and over again.
It does a good job at redeeming the bully character, without letting him get off free for his past actions
user, the protagonist is a bully that became a target of bullying himself. It's not as simple as "i've changed please forgive me"
He gets what he deserves and understands the consequences they brought out, negatives for the bully do not equal positives for the bullied, the bully compensates to make up for it and thus does more than any simple revenge
>bullies get what they deserved
If you mean a life of regret, isolation, attempted suicide and near fatality. Then yes. He did.
Your Name is better.
i liked it.
I wanted to murder the mc in the first 1/4 because he is just such a fucking cunt but if you get over that its ok.
The other thing which pissed me off was the crossed out faces. why even make that distinction. waste of time and effort.
doesnt add to how he feels/behaves or why he cant look people in the eyes.
He gets what he deserves, and it's not just that. He gets even more than he deserves when he does something in one key moment, which if you don't think he redeems himself after, you simply don't believe people can be redeemed.
Bad bait. This console war bullshit isn't a thing.
unironically this
5cm/s is miles better than Your Name
I still don't understand what makes this any better than any other seasonal romantic anime
This mentality of NOTHING CAN BE FORGIVEN is such a horrible mindset
MC is the bully and he constantly feels bad to the point that he attempts suicide.
Its a story about communication, all the characters are poor at communicating in the begining and grow to become friends
I mostly agree with you, OP. However, the movie isn't problematic because the bully gets redeemed and has everything work out for him in the end (which, as has been stated, isn't entirely true) but because his victim also falls in love with him, which sends a wrong message.
I think, yes.
OP do you have some issues you'd like to discuss with us?
Yes, Watch it.
My name?
Just don't expect it to be realistic in any way.
Do you know why it's still a shitpost even if he believed that? It doesn't answer OP's question in any way. It's just off topic and derailing the thread.
>I want a one dimensional protagonist in my character based movie
Yeah don't bother watching it buddy
but he's 2D
I don't get this mentality, they're kids, they don't have a full grasp on morals or reality yet. They gain perspective, grow up, and understand they're actions later. But in regards to the movie don't worry, the classic Japanese anime mentality of never forgive, never forget is present.
t. bully
t. bullied
It's pure wish fulfillment. The protagonist drowns in self-pity and everyone else is really mad about elementary school drama for some reason.
Shouya gets called out CONSTANTLY for doing what he's doing just to make himself feel better about the terrible shit he did, and actually works through his problems and makes amends properly.
I think part of what makes A Silent Voice a brilliant story is that they even addressed the issue of them being romantic. Shouko's attraction is initially unhealthy and based on her own low esteem for herself, but by the end it feels like they're both mentally healthy enough to pursue such a relationship if they wished. And it's a good thing they never kissed or anything in the film because they weren't ready for that yet.
>I need to see bullies get what they fucking deserve
Faggot.
