Another example is that he had a chance to defeat Majin Buu, but decided that Goten and Trunks should be the ones to defeat him, and that proven to be a bad idea.
Despite being a good person, Goku can be very selfish at times.

But that was an entirely selfless decision. He passed up the fight of his unlife against Buu because he wanted the everyone who was still alive to be able to handle themselves without him being around to help out.
Goku can be selfish, but the real redpill is realizing Toriyama's character writing is inconsistent as fuck.
