So the historical manga, Ad Astra, narrating the tale of Hannibal of Carthage war against Rome, have ended.
Did you liked it, Zig Forums?

The Internet is a multinational place, you bigot.
Picked this up on a whim but god damn it was surprisingly awesome. Wish it was a bit longer overall but thats mainly because I didn't want to stop reading.
learn english
or Latin
also now that it's finished I should read it
Everything after canne is trash, makes scipio look like a mary-sue, and hannibal a retard.
it lasted long enough in my opinion, without lengthening the story unnecessarily
Scipio died the death he deserved.
Hannibal deserved better but he was never truly beaten by Rome.
Based Archimedes
hox is a pretentious faggot
That's pretty much how the actual history goes though. It's not really the author's fault that all Hannibal did after Cannae was keep trying to flip Roman cities and kind of uselessly rampage around Italy for years or that Scipio ran brilliant campaigns in Africa and Hispania.
>Scipio died the death he deserved.
A hero disgraced by bitter Senatorial rivals?
>Hannibal deserved better but he was never truly beaten by Rome.
Zama is a pretty clear defeat.

As a huge romanboo, I loved it.
Oh nice, I came to Zig Forums at a great moment.
Thanks, OP.
I kind of avoided it because I love Roman history but the Punic Wars is actually not something I've ever found all that interesting. I wish someone would pick Plinivs back up because it's probably the most accurate piece of Roman fiction I've ever seen and covers my absolute favorite period of Roman history (Nero through the Flavian period, well up until Titus I'd assume).
Nah, Hannibal got utterly rekt by Rome in the end. I don't even know how you can deny it, unless you're the kind of person who thinks Nazis beat the Soviets because they had higher kill:death ratios.
Ultra Jump is underrated outside of JoJo.
Segues pretty well into the manga Drifters.
>without lengthening the story unnecessarily
I agree. It's the best way to end a story like this.
Fucking loved it, was in tears the last chapter. I recommend it to everyone. The Second Punic War is absolute kino and the manga did a lovely job with it.
Scipio deserved better. Especially knowing how much of pathetic cucks the Republic was starting to become.
The Republic was fucked as soon as they conquered Carthage and the Greeks.
Elephant abuse is the worst. I wish humans didn't continue to abuse them by riding and fucking up their backs.
did a great job for a historical manga. not too long, didnt take *too* many liberties, got the characters down well.
i wish we had gotten to see their dinner a decade after zama, but he just wanted the ending I suppose
Yes, this is why I think I kind of panicked when I saw the old Scipio immediately after. I think it would have been just too kino to portray. Hannibal admitting that he thinks Scipio is the greatest while directly not saying so.
Yes, way too many slaves and the patrician classes benefited far too much from all the wealth going to the top like that. Quite sad that it was such an amazing system until all that.
Fuck Scipio and Fuck Romans.
My boy Hannibal deserved better.
I read this manga till Battle of Cannae and by the time I reached Capua it was getting fucking painful.
Fuck Rome. Roma Delenda Este.
To me it shows the utter failure of both of their Republic systems, although Romes causes their downfall in different ways and more metaphorical ways. But how the Consuls on either side would provide the bare minimum the Hannibal and Scipio is telling enough of the future of both of their states.
>Had a golden chance
>Missed it
Sorry bud, but Han fucked up.
Blame the Carthaginian oligarchs for being a bunch of cucks. In the 1st Punic War, even though Rome started with virtually no proper navy, the patricians and plebeians alike voted to approve the high expenses needed to reverse-engineer Carthaginian ships, train Roman rowers and marines, to eventually wrest control from the seas. Carthage-cucks always try to defend Hannibal just fucking around in southern Italy by saying Carthage had no real way of sending more troops directly to Italy because Rome had the naval supremacy in the 2nd Punic War, but by that logic, Rome shouldn't have been able to do shit in the first war.
It all comes down to political will, which simply wasn't there in the Carthaginian Republic, which in turn is probably due to various reasons , some cultural, some institutional.
Then from here on out to Julius Caesae, nae, even during the Second Punic War the Republic of Rome is in full retard mode. What a shame, Romae aeternam in corde meo usque in sempiternum.
