I've flicked through Uzumaki once but I haven't read it. Just for you OP I'll read it.
merci! have fun!
Junji Ito Collection is a rather poor adaptation. I think if you read the stories it adapted you might enjoy them more. Shiver was a pretty good one.
Hanging balloons was great, and so was the one with the people-shaped holes.
shiver made me want to vomit. I'm reading army of one right now
I need to check out Tomie. Currently reading Gyo and finished Uzumaki a while back. Unpopular opinion here, I enjoyed the anime. I watched it not expecting too much hearing it was shit beforehand but I've seen much worse in my day.
I'm making a video defending the series for halloween. Pretty much I say it's a good introduction if you dont know junji ito and will make you want to check out the manga. That's what it did for me
I really enjoyed Lovesick Dead (the Intersection Bishonen one).
Enigma of Amigara fault is my fav
what the fuck! this is crazy!
Army of One is eerily relevant story for 2020
Read his one shots, they're all incredible short-form horror. Some highlights are
>long dream
>my dear ancestors
>the town without streets
>the enigma of Amigara Fault
What are some other good horror manga with short anthology stories? Or long form if its good, ive only read drifting classroom.
I've seen the episodes for most of these. Long Dream is probably my fav story so far
i haven't read too many, but i love the amigahara fault, the one about the fake turd, and the one about the group of friends who drink some crazy tree juice and end up getting swatted by ???
the one about the greasy family was really, really fucking gross
I think Junji Ito's manga are extremely creative and cool but I have never been spooked by one of them.
SMASHED is so wild
I've been grossed out a few times. Particularly THAT scene from Glyceride. The only one that really got me was the Hanging Balloons. It was just pure doom and I hate feeling helpless so it was a perfect match for me
SPOOKY LOOKING THINGS SCARE ME!
what are your theories?
Just read it
for me, it's Black Paradox
>theory
you're not reading these right. don't overthink it - its a spooky story, not a hemingway novel. its just a bunch of weird fucking holes, man
that's so boring. Trying to discover the meaning to ito's stories is super fun

just realize that you're almost certainly reading into things that aren't actually there. your wasting your time, they're just spooky stories.
If you like his long form stories, Hellstar Remina and Black Paradox are both really good. My favorite short story is Long Dream, it’s really peak Ito. I can’t recommend anything more than hid adaptation of No Longer Human, its not really horror at all, just incredible from start to finish
Death of the Author is also a valid approach to fiction.
"Army of one" is a badass name for a manipulator nen ability.
Most of his stories are kinda gross or funny in a twisted way, but Gyo really gets me. Made me legit terrified.
Uzumaki and Army of One made me gag at multiple times.
They're good.
Hellstar Remina is great cosmic horror, but gets somewhat wacky at times.
Army of One~ AAARMY OF OOOOOOOOOONEEEEEEEE
