I see threads.

You're not looking very hard, there's discussion constantly.
There was less over the summer because there was var less anime coming out due to Corona.

you should just be reading manga anyways.

yeah its shit, you can safely leave and never come back

People still talk about the new seasons, just not as much as the old/ongoing ones

Every Thursday and Friday this board explodes with Higurashi content. Some people even paid for Higurashi advertisement. People fucking love it.

It really just depends if you still like it or not...Honestly when you've seen enough anime, you've essentially seen them all but, they can still be enjoyable

Zig Forums has a pretty big younger userbase probably 15/16 to early 20s who haven't been watching anime too long to be sick of it yet though

blind

I thought I would get bored of the medium but then my JP got to a point where I weaned myself off translations and I've just dived into LNs and VNs, there's no escaping this rabbit hole for me

Don't you agree it all starts to just blend into each-other at some point though? This difference between watching anime for 5 to 10 years vs 20 to 25 years is definitely something that divides the viewerbase, but really anything can be enjoyable as long as you try not to be cynical about it

That's because in most cases anime is watered down compared to the source material and there is plenty of material to explore (for me at least) when unrestricted by the mercies of translators. Anime and even regular TV shows are restricted by the time limit of each episode which forces production to cut and splice the story to fit the time slot, sometimes with bad results. With non-anime media I don't watch TV or many movies either, I mostly just read.

no

anime will never be the same after KLK. You think it might have saved anime. In fact it just marked the peak and it's all downhill from there.

No? Anime has only gotten better in the last 10 years.

What the fuck are you talking about? There's threads for new episodes every single day

I suppose nowadays everything is more like little generals for each show, you rarely see people spamming one show all over the place, and when it does get spammed its usually just shitposters/raiders. So you tend to see less board-wide discussion about the same thing and more segregation

Anime is still okay, there's just no big new meme anime because of covid.

"Old" popular titles are getting updates, it's a good time to start or catch up on them if you haven't already.

Anime is experiencing what TV, film and music experienced in the western world years ago, the death of the entertainment monoculture thanks to the proliferation of content and accessibility to that content. You talk to boomers and they all watched the same shows despite what their tastes seem to be. Ratings for "huge hits" like GoT pale in comparison to the ratings a lot of the biggest shows in the 90s and early 2000s got.

For a long time if you were somebody who spent a lot of time on the internet and were into anime you likely watched a lot of the same shows as everyone else did. Now with 60 or so new things airing every 3 months all with easily accessible subs and "simuldubs" that all pander to different tastes, you have a largely fractured audience.

The only time you are going to see board wide discussion of a show anymore is when something comes out that either appeals to everyone or is a bombastic memefest like Darling in the Franxx.

anime has always been trash, always will be and that's a good thing too

this but unironically

Is higurashi worth watching if you didn't watch the original show?

Read the VN you filthy secondary.

Yes, though I advice at least reading the manga
